I've noticed the last time out camping that when we have certain lights on I get a humming noise coming through the sound system when watching tv. I could always hear the fan come on with the inverter and there always seemed to be a little noise in the sound system but now it seems to be getting worse. Any ideas. Loose wire, or is the inverter going bad? Turning on certain lights can make it noisier.

Possibly the type of inverter is it a mod sine or pure sine? I have been told if you do not have either of these two types you may experience interference with you electronics

The TT is a 2006 Rockwood 8296SS. Not sure what kind of inverter it has. Is there a fix for this, its really kind of annoying.

killbilly, do you really mean INVERTER (makes 110 volts when connected to a 12 v battery) or are you talking about the trailer's CONVERTER (manke 12 volts when pluged into shore power)?

Yea ours does the same thing. I think but not sure but I think the battery might be shorted or maybe going bad in some way I think. I have not yet had a chance to change the battery to test my theory.
I think the converter does not like a bad battery. I does not look all sophisticated i think you you disconnect the battery the noise might go away.

There are a lot of things that could send "electrical noise" into you system.
a loose solder joint, a capacitor going bad, or even transformer putting out a signal that your system hears.
Have you ever used computer speakers powered by batteries and run them using a wall plug batteries no noise, plug lots of hum.
Could be easy fix for a technician then again could be bad ground wire on converter

Many converters have a squeal under load. Its the transformer core.If the converter has a cooling fan, check it for dirt and obstructions.
