We are looking to 2008 for a different place to go - that we haven't been to, yet we can still do some canoeing.

My mom leaves in Ocklawaha, so we thought maybe we'd try Lake Griffin State Park!

Has anyone been there? Have you canoed there?
What about site number recommendation? There aren't a lot of
sites and we're looking for something with a little shade,
if possible.........otherwise we'll settle for the bushes that
the web site shows!

Thanks, JO

Wife and I have camped there many many times. It is a beautiful park. Don't worry about trying to find a shady spot; it's all shaded. Has a really nice dock and easy to launch a canoe there into a looooooong canal that leads right out to Lake Griffin.

Thank you...........

I noticed on the web site for the reservations that some show 50 amp service
and others don't.......

Hopefully I can book whatever I want and won't be restricted and the ranger won't say "those are for 50 amp only".........we have a step down electrical cable anyway!

I rode through a while back, a lot of the spots would be hard to access with a large trailer or MH.

Looking once again to go to Lake Griffin SP, still haven't made it yet!
Hopefully next year over 4th of July.....

They have about ten 40 ft sites, 2 are pull throughs.

We are thinking about site 17.......any one stayed in this one yet?

I rode through last year. You will need the pull-through sites for sure....can't recall the site numbers off the top of my head though.

I would hope I can get my 31 ft fiver in a 40 ft site.......but if they are
narrow and I can't open my slides, then we'll do a pull through.

We had a 40 ft site at Paynes Prairie 2 weeks ago and we could barely get into
it because of the trees in front of our site. Took the DH a few tries to get it in.
Once we did, all was okay, but he threw out a few 'choice' words before he got
her in place!

Thanks,

Jo
