The word "resort" combined with "RV" gives me images of pink flamingos and plaid shorts. No thanks, our Pop-up, tent trailer, fold-out, etc is for "camping". I agree with the earlier comment regarding crowded spaces. The "resort" websites I have surfed out of curiosity all appear to pack em in like sardines. All concrete, no grass, overpriced store and a cafeteria, crowded pool....Why would anyone want this???

BTW, Just visited the Vicksburg website- looks like they have them all lined up neat and tidy, and packed in like an RV dealership.

No need to call and complain. Do you really want to be in a place that feels they are better than you because of your sleeping arrangements?

Like I tell my 7 year old all the time, it is not the material things that make the person it is what is inside that counts.

Correct! And what's inside that counts for others is: A plasma TV, dishwasher, full tub and shower, garbage disposal, surround sound, TV in the bathroom............

I can not figure out the reason why some RV Resorts and Campgrounds do not allow pop-ups? What difference could it possibly make if someone is enjoying time with their family in a 40 ft diesel pusher or a small pop-up? I do not have a pop-up, but it sure would make me think twice about staying somewhere that didn't allow them. What is next? No hybrids, no truck campers, no class Bs, no rv's unless they have gel-coat sides? The object of camping for me is fun. Places like this do not seem fun at all when they cater to an "elitest" crowd.

It makes for good advertising. People see that they accept all makes of units and it makes it seem like a warm, welcoming park. Unless you have a pup, you never realize that they are not welcome. If you call them on the carpet, they will just say that its a recent management decision and haven't had the time to change the web-site.

Not sure they can get away with it. Last time I checked, that was called "false advertising". Stores pulled that a lot in their ads when they advertised something for a sale price but when you got to the store it was much higher. I believe legally the store has to honor it if it's in writing.

I would think advertising on a website would be the same...???

There is an elitist crowd within the RV community. I don't care for it and do not stay places like that. I prefer some nature over the RV Resort parking lot anyway. There are people on here who complain about trees in a CG because it hinders there SAT signal. They complain about only having a gravel site instead of a concrete patio. Good grief.

Hello all. I am new to the forum, but not new to camping. Just wanted to let everyone know something that I found out today. I was trying to make a reservation at Magnolia RV Park Resort, Vicksburg, Mississippi. I was informed that they DO NOT allow pop up campers in their campground. Discrimination at its finest, if you ask me. Just my opinion. Call them and complain.

Classic88-
Your post makes a good case for staying only at State run campgrounds, or State approved campgrounds managed under their authority.
As many others have voiced here, I am not, under any circumstance, interested in camping with either neighbor 5 feet on the other side.
To me and my family, camping is a time for outdoors, nature, listening to birds, watching deer or turkey, and experiencing the expanse of the great outdoors.
If you are complaining about trees blocking your SAT reception, I just feel sorry for you.
Me and mine, we would rather watch the squirrels play.

When we were camping at a CG by the beach with several pop up campers they left early and we stayed an extra day. In the space next to us a big motor home pulled in and I was asleep in our pup when I heard a lady yelling at her husband that she wouldn't stay next to a "Tent Trailer!" She didn't let up until her husband went to the office and got their site changed......I say good for us that she left.......Who wants a snob like that next to you......

I think it is GREAT we have places like that, we need more of them. That keeps more of those big ugly stinky buses with noisy generators driven by people with zero manners (and often less driving ability) out of the places I like to CAMP! Wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if EVERY Class A owner got their nose so high in the air they wouldn't even think about PARKING without full hookups.

On the other hand, those are many of the same folks that think Wally World is the best for letting them park for FREE! Go figure.
