Toyota's RELIABILITY has fallen behind FORD!!!! OMG,, what's this world comming to???Next thing you know they won't be the number 1 seller anylonger.... Oh wait, GM is number 1 again!!!!

CR still has Toyota ranked third overall in reliability, behind No. 1 Honda and Subaru.

This is just a show truck.

You can get 500 hp out of a 4 cylinder if you push enough air in it.

It means nothing.

Are they really going to market it?
I don't think so. The Regular Tundra is having a hard enough time staying on the road.

Problems with:

Engine - cam shafts
Frame - flex
Tail gate - breaking
Transmission - shifting

The only thing that works is the rear view mirror.

Wrongo,

Camshafts: Isolated to about 20 early production vehicles, most never released to the public. Now a non-issue but still circulates the web and provides old fodder for Tundra Bashers.

Frame flex: Never shown to be a problem, or even undesirable in the real world. Fodder for unsophisticated Tundra Bashers with no engineering background or knowledge that were hoodwinked by the Ford-leaked youtube video designed to show Tundra and Chevy in a bad light.

Transmission: Never a problem with the superb 6-speed trans. "Rumble Strip" problem traced to some bad torque converters and problem solved on all new build models. If you have an early production model, problem shows up very soon. Worst case scenario: you get a new upgraded torque converter.

Tailgate: Possibly a problem depending on whether you use the tailgate to load heavy objects. If you do, avoid this truck.

sounds like just another high horsepower small block in a small pickup. Other simular small 1500 high hp trucks and from a towing standpoint they .................. just like the others.

Wonder where all the naysayers are now saying "what we don't need is another high powered pickup".....

OK, I'll bite: WHAT WE DON'T NEED IS ANOTHER HIGH POWERED PICKUP! What we need is a pickup with reasonable power that gets really good fuel economy. The 07 Tundra is almost there--it just needs a little more fuel economy.

JMHO but what do I know?

Toyota isn't stupid enough to waste money to mass produce that thing. They really aren't a high-risk type corporation. They produce stuff that they know people will buy, that rig is more like the SRT10 Ram which is a real niche market. I would be shocked to see this being in Toyota's future. Cool truck anyways. Maybe if they do build them like crazy Ford would consider using the 500hp Shelby Cobra engine in the F-150. I wonder if you can get it from the factory with a narrowed rear so you could run super wide wrinkle walls for traction

Flash, no use of mundane facts or articles that shows the Tundy in a negative light will phase Mr. Toyota. Anything else is a thought out conspiracy by known Toyota bashers!!!!

rsh757 - Even you must admit Flash is blowing each of his nitpicks out of proportion. Ron3rd is stating fact with what he posted. Toyota is running a "gasp!" c channel frame under the bed area of the Tundra. According to them is is supposed to have controlled flex and allow for a better ride. All your HD trucks run C channels as well and guess what? Their beds shake also. Camshafts were a non issue less than a month after it came out there was a problem. Super small number and instantly addressed. Trannies were the same way. Tailgate strength is the one issue that has legs apparently. I have seen pics and it does look chintzy.

FWIW give me 5 more mpg with any of the current HP numbers on all current small blocks from all manufacturers and I would be way happier than having more HP. HP is nice but it is getting more and more that mileage would be better as a sales tool. How many buyers wallets can afford the truck only to sell or pass on it after they can't afford to feed it? One huge reason truck sales have slowed across the board. The exceptions being fresh redesigns. Year 2 will be the true test. After all the "latest and greatest trade my perfectly good truck in to be the first to have the new one" people already have their new truck.
