Well, in concept form anyway. The rumor was that a Tundra diesel would show up at SEMA, but no dice. The 500hp Tundra will be there though.

TOYOTA TUNDRA TRD Supercharged CONCEPT

Wonder where all the naysayers are now saying "what we don't need is another high powered pickup".....

Aside from the orange leather seats, I like it. I wonder about how the 1/2 ton manages over 2k lbs of pin weight. What's the rear axle rating of the Tundra? If the 10k lb trailer has 1k lbs pin weight, I wouldn't want to tow it at highway speeds.

If you look at the lower part of the article, you'll see a pix of the INSIDE of the trailer....it's 90% AIR
That maybe a 10.2K GROSS WEIGHT trailer, but I have my doubts it's 10.2K AS SHOWN

So much for those accusing ib516 of only posting negative info on Toyotas.

Very interesting. Thanks.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!!!

Not that I am going to buy a Toy, but it will force the hand of the other manufacturers to keep up.

As far as I am concerend, satify Uncle Sam, (emissions) satisfy me, (reasonable MPG) I say bring on the HP.

I guess $3 bucks a gallon isn't high enough(probably $4 next year) , give me a break, that would be for sale the first day I filled the tank. Anybody can make more HP, the real trick is to make better fuel mileage in a usable powerplant. It scares me to think that this what all the market research is telling them they need to produce right now, maybe for brainless rednecks , I don't know.

From a financial standpoint I think only Honda has it right. 9 out of 10 trucks sold tow only groceries home from the store so they built one designed for the purpose. Seems like ALL of the big truck manufacturers are spending an inordinate amount of money competing for 10% of the total market. Just my opinion / Skip

500HP - impressive, but the they don't mention torque. HP keeps you going, but it takes torque to get you going. For giggles .... your engine develops a kazillion hp, but only 200 ftlbs of torque. Now, you could run all day at 65MPH pulling a 10K trailer, but how many days would it take you to get to 65? Only 1 and thats downhill with a tailwind .....
