Anybody running these? I have about 5k miles on mine (225, 19.5) now and they still have the squishiness thing going on so looking to see if anyone else has any experience. Thanks.

I run them, same size ... what is this squishiness you speak of?

Can you describe "squishiness"?
I have the Michelin, 245x19.5, XDE-MS. No sway, tracking problems of any kind. They are mounted on Vision wheels.

Had the 245 x 19.5, XDE-MS on the last truck a 2000 F-350 SRW and I know exactly what you are feeling. It feels a bit like you are on ice, it takes just a second for the tires to take a steering input. The truck seems to almost feel like it slides a little around corners. Do you tires follow the ruts in the road too?

Could it be a pressure problem. I had some sway when I put on the 19.5's, Rancho 9000's solved that. I run 105 psi in rear and 85 psi in front on our Dunlop "H" rated 245's. They perform well.

tycreek wrote: I run them, same size ... what is this squishiness you speak of? Squirliness. Ok, that probably doesn't help either. If you've ever had a bad steering damper, then that's the feeling, but from both axles. I know my steering damper is ok, as I put my OEM tires/wheels back on and it goes away. Unloaded I'm running 70 in front and 65 psi in rear. Maybe it is a pressure thing. I notice less movement when loaded and running 85 psi. But I never had this feeling with OEM's when aired down. You'd think these would be "stiffer" over the same air/load range. Rickson talks about squishiness being in the tread block of these commercial truck tires, and the squishiness goes away after 500 miles, or so. My experience is off by an order of magnitude (so far) from their experience.

Do you tires follow the ruts in the road too? Exactly the feeling, and they do follow the ruts, much like my old truck did when the steering damper went tango uniform. Rickson mentions this on their website and the literature they include with the tires, but says it goes away after 500 miles or so. I've not experienced this yet so far, and since the XDS2's are a fairly new tire (replaces XDE's I believe) I'm hoping this isn't an undiscovered problem.

Michelin's web site describes this tire as "The drive axle radial for year round traction, optimized for winter conditions and limited all position service." Could it be that in some applications, a specific steer axle tire would be a better choice for the front? Just a thought.

Possible, but why would Rickson recommend this for all four positions?

I finally gave up on the 245 x 19.5, XDE-MS that were on the front of my 2000 F-350 SRW. They were on the truck for more than 5000 miles and they never would settle down and track right.
After some research on the Michelin
Truck tire web site I found that the XDE-MS were not intended for steering axles. This could have been the reason for my problem and maybe yours.
We did try a set of XZE2+ tires on the front and the problem went away. Made a world of difference. See if the dealer will mount a set of the XZE2+ tires or another steering axle tire on the front and see if that helps. The dealer that I worked with was to say the least very helpful in making sure that I had a rig that was safe to drive.
