New Ford crates engines (not racing engines) run between $2000-3000 plus installation and have warranties. The low end would be for a 302, high end would be a 351. I doubt it had the big block 460. Installation should run about $1500-2000.
I've had 302's in Mustangs that have been abused last over 150,000 miles and didn't blow up until a supercharger was put on them..

If you look around at all the companies using econoline service vans, many of which have 300,000 miles or more, that will kinda answer your own question. The econoline is very tough.
