I will be winterizing my travel trailer this weekend and was goig through the checklist for winterizeing that I got from RVeducation 101 and had a question to one of the items.
"Drain and flush the gray and black water holding tanks. If the RV doesn’t have a built in flushing system clean the black tank out with a wand. Lubricate the termination valves."
I am not sure what they mean by the termination valves. are they the handles that release the black and grey tanks? This will be my first attempt at winterizing. Last year I paid to have it done.
Thanks for the help.

Empty all your tanks...drain the water heater and then set your bypass valves (if so installed)...drain the low point drains...if so equipped with a bypass system pump anti-freeze via hose in a bottle of AF throughout the system, starting with farthest faucet from pump and make sure to fill ALL water lines...trun off pump and open a faucet, go outside to city water connection and push in on the white button (check valve) until AF comes out...drains tanks one last time and then close...pour AF down each drain and into toilet...and you're finished!
I'm assuming the termination valaves are the sliding "doors" to shut off the tanks from draining...the AF in the tanks will keep the "doors" lubricated

I empty waste tanks completely. Then spray silicone spray up the drains while operating valves. Also spray a little on shafts. Really helps. I spray toilet seal also.
Never noticed AF helped much on ours.

Silicone is a lubricant....WD-40 is a degreaser. Hope that clears that up for you. stick with the silicone.

OK, stupid question, I don't think I have a "white button" at my city water connection.
Another stupid question, why would you drain the tanks after you've ran antifreeze into them from the faucets only to add antifreeze back to them again? Couldn't you just leave the antifreeze in there that you just pumped out of the faucet?

The "white button" is under the screen in the city water connector. You need to pry out the screen, it's held in by a rubber washer and friction. Use a blunt tool, I used the screw driver blade on my swiss army knife.

Good question. I wondered this, too. Seems redundant to pour more pink antifreeze into the p-traps when you've already run the taps with pink coming out. I just ran the pink stuff into the drains (so they're in the p-traps) and drained the tanks. The pink stuff is still in the p-traps, isn't it? It doesn't come out until it's rinsed out - correct?
