Would there be any interest in a rally in Iowa? After going to a rally in a nearby state, the DW and I thought it would be fun to try this around the tall corn state. We have looked at a few campgrounds are our area of the state, (eastern Iowa) and have heard wind from a few people that we met at the last WI. rally that some would be interested in joining us.
I would like to know if any one around here would like to jump in and help throw one together. I think they can be lots of fun and can also be tied in to some regional functions possibly.
Post and let me know that I'm not alone here.
Glen

Glen...Good luck! Wish we could come. Love visiting Iowa. Our home office in in the Des Moines area. We were supposed to come out to the Iowa State Fair a year ago. Were going to stay in Waukee.

I hope this rally comes together for you.

Check out the RV park in Amana, IA, largest in the state that I have stayed in and within 1 mile of the Amana Colonies. They even have large enclosed buildings that can be rented for functions.

Actually I have looked into the Amana Colonies. There is also a campground right along the Coralville reservoir that has been taken over after it was run down into great disrepair. They have done a wonderful job of bringing that tired old campground back to life! Would be great for boating fans and those who just like watching the waves on the lake. I was going to see when the schedule is for the area ski team as they put on quite a show and swing down that direction from Cedar Rapids occasionally. Not far from many other things as well.

How far is this from the Chicago area? Might be good for a 4 day weekend - we're always looking for new places to run the boat..

Well the last time I went to a Northwestern football game, I think the bus driver made it there from Iowa City in about 3.5 hours.

Would that be the Jolly Roger campground that you are talking about? We checked it out a couple of years ago and decided we would have to be pretty desperate to camp there. If that is the one it looked like it could be nice if were cleaned up.

I would be willing to help put something together. I live in Charles City. About 140 miles from Iowa City. My daughter and son live there so we get there as often as we can.

I love Sugar Bottom and they do have nice group camping. I can also stay there for half price.

Let me know.

Yes Jolly Roger was taken over and is now called Scales Pointe Campground and Bobbers Bar and Grille. We walked around the sites last weekend and things really look better. I haven't tried Sugar Bottom yet. We went through earlier this summer and sized things up but I haven't camped there for years.

What ever you do, you better be getting a REV in as soon as you can. Parks go out here in the west one year in advance.

I am looking for anyone who would like to go to a rally in Iowa to post. I'm not looking for someone to unload a bunch of work on. Please don't be bashful. Just trying to see what kind of interest there would be.

Hobo, you are right. I am usually not that organized. Hard to believe thhat there are some that do that. I guess I will be hard up if I ever come out west. I'll have to work on that.
