I am assuming you are referring to police officers.
We got "caught" this past weekend. We were doing a mulitcache which involves 6 historical markers. We took pics of them for our journal. While at one, a security guard confronted us...no pics were allowed .... We explained what we were doing...too bad, says he. OK, I'll put the camera back in the truck, says DH...That flustered the guy. We continued deciphering the clues and then left.
It was a great day...put 70 miles on the truck and saw a lot of back country in Oachita Parish......
No I meant Poison oak, in almost 7 years of caching I've been stopped one time by an LEO and that was in Palm Springs and he was more interested in the container then anything else, it was a pill bottle
LOL, now THAT'S funny!! So far, hubby and I haven't had ANY trouble with either kind of "PO" but my sister and her hubby are police officer magnets. They've been caching for just about a year and have had FOUR run-ins. Once they were looking for a micro outside of an AutoZone and the cops thought they were looking for some drugs they'd lost...
(The officers are always very nice when they find out what's going on.)
They have little cards you can print off the internet, for handing out to people when necessary. They explain what geocaching is. I always carry a couple in my wallet, but I've never had to use them yet.
Happy Caching!!

I just got PO'ed this week! Thank you so much for the RV information. I'm planning a RV travel bug to be released in Louisiana and see if it can beat me to Oregon when I arrive in the spring. I am also a caver and noticed some of our "secret caves" in Oregon I.E. Charlie's Cave a cave that I was among FTF back in the early 80's it was named by a young boy who named it after an avid Caver and cave author Charlie. There is so much that we can see and learn about our land that makes this hobby so enjoyable to an RV'ers natural sense of adventure. Please if you haven't done it look into it, and if your one of us keep up the stories!
About 2 weeks ago we were cacheing and the people at this one cache called the police on us. Anyway to make a long story short they had started a neighborhood watch because people had been suspiciously looking around and when they tried to approach them they would leave. It was a much longer story than that but the PO wasn't the least bit interested in geocacheing, I think he was just annoyed.

PO means POISON OAK not Police Officer. This police issue is not as big as it seems to be getting on this thread, I have no idea how it went this direction. There's a thread on the subject of police on the Groundspeak.com fourms it happens but if you use your COMMON SENSE it greatly reduces your chances of trouble.
Laughingfrog - here and there - and we love to geocache...at least my boys and I...can't seem to twist my husband's arm to join us - even though he used to love to go hiking and we often end up on some long walks/hikes in the North Georgia mountains doing these.
Now, every time we plan a trip I run a pocket query for caches in the vicinity of our campground...sometimes we get to do them and sometimes we're just having too much fun relaxing to bother, but either way we're ready for the hunt if the mood strikes us...
Just did about 7 caches in the Savannah area and have some loaded and ready to go for our trip to A H Stephens State Park this weekend...
