It's official. The spring camping get together will be at Mar Don Resort, arrviving on Friday, May 16, 2008 and leaving on Sunday the 18th. We have reserved a block of sites next to each other under the name "RV.Net/Natcoa". These sites will be held for us until December 1, 2007. After that it will be opened to whomever makes the reservations. This is a very nice resort with several amenities, their website is, "www.mardonresort.com", and the phone number their is (509) 346-2651, I have been speaking with Annie at the resort. At this point there are plenty of spaces available if people want to stay longer, or arrive earlier. The cost is $25 per night, and this is for full hook ups. If you have any questions, let me know. And we look forward to seeing everyone their. As we get closer I will post more information.
I am also wondering how many people will be headed their from the west side of Washington, maybe we can get a caravan going. Let me know, and also let me know if you can plan on attending.
Kevin

PART-2
Guess I should clarify, this is open to anyone who wants to come. And Mar-Don Resort is in Othello, Washington. Kind of in the middle-ish part of the state. Thought later about all those in Florida, etc., and while everyone is invited, man it would be a long trip from Florida. However, maybe a "longest drive" award would be in order, I hereby volunteer Dakota Sally to put that one up.......he he he

Sign up process is in the works & should be ready later today. There are also plans in the works for a mid summer rally in NE Oregon. I will post that one when it gets set, if it does.

Here is a link to the spring get together. If I have done this right:

If this does not work, you may have to copy and paste it into your browser. And many thanks to Paul for putting this link together.

Gas Prices will dictate my attendance on this one, if its above $3 a gallon by more than $0.10-$0.15, then it'll be outside my realistic range budget. Normally I try to max it out at 200 miles oneway, unless there's a group of folks cashing in with me.

My usual Trips:

Nehalem Bay: 108 Miles one-way
Diamond Lake: 198 Miles one-way
Ainsworth SP: 72.8 Miles one-way
Silver Creek Falls: 28.8 Miles one-way

The one trip I self-funded that was outside the 400 mile round trip range was the California Adventure, on which I dug myself close to $1000 in additional credit card debt.

The other trip this past year was the Return to Sol Duc, which basically was our last trip out there, we're kinda burned out on Sol Duc, but this trip was a 3 person funded adventure, vs a 1 person.

Have they done any improvements at MarDon? I was there in the early '90's. The bathrooms were honey huts on a flatbed semi trailer in the parking lot with steps leading up to it. It cost $5 bucks to get a key to them. The camp spots were so close together you couldn't put your awning out without hitting your neighbor. My truck and jet boat together were too long for my assigned camping spot. They said I would have to take the boat to an unsecured overflow parking lot 1/2 mile away. And the little guy on the golf cart was a real PITA with his list of rules and TAPE MEASURE!! It was my first trip to MarDon. They completely misrepresented their facilities when I prepaid reservations by phone. The only good thing is they did refund my money.

When I was there last year, they had indoor showers, and toilets. Unfortunately the boats may still have to stay at the dock, don't know about that one, maybe call and ask them. From the sounds of it, they have greatly improved in the last 10 or so years. Maybe check out their website also.

First of all Hazel and I reserved our spot (72A) today.

We have been camping at Mardon for years and we have seen many improvements come every time we show up. Last year they replace the old motel above Perch Lane and put in their place two level park models, the west end bath/shower building was replaces with a new building at the end of Perch lane and the restaurant/bar has a new out side patio on the shady side of the building.

Now did you know this lake is 28,000 acres in size? It has one of the best fishing docks for those who are boat less. Did you know this, "Field and Steam magazine named our lake (The Potholes Reservoir) the best place to Bass fish for 2007. Other species include: Walleye, Trout, Bluegill, Crappie, Perch, Carp and Catfish."

And yes the sites are close and small, all the more reason to stay out on the water.
