IF for some reason you can't or don't like Mardon. The state park on the lake is very very nice with full hookups. I was just there a few weeks ago.

O'Sullivan lake has some great fishin. It also has some great stories to go along and a scary time for me when I was about 10 years old. My DAD and I were fishing in a 12 foot aluminum boat with an old 5 ? horse unreliable motor. We were out fishing around the dunes when the wind and rains came. We started back accross the lake headed for Mardon at probably 5 miles an hour maybe. Waves came up...big ones....so I thought I was on the ocean. Big waves....filled the boat with water...my dad was scared to death...so was I...we barely made it. The winds were at least 50 mph..white caps over the boat. We drove from Yakima to fish..had to cross the Columbia river in a ferry on Hwy 24 at Vernita. It was just before the built the bridge. Wow..that was a long time ago. I am 57 now.

There a lot of Potholes ..or seep lakes below the dam the stretch for many miles. There used to be some great fishing in them too. But its been a long time since I visited any of them. Duck hunting too....but thats another trip for another time.

We did end up staying at the State Park and it was nice. The fishing was terrific. We also got caught in a big storm. Taking water over the side of a big aluminum V8 powered jet boat designed for white water!! I'd be willing to give it another try. Mainly to meet you folks. My present boat has somehow shrank to 12'. I'd probably leave it at home anyway. I can't cook, maybe I could be the camp bartender. Just bring all the booze to my site and I'll have a drink ready for you when you get done fishing.

I to remember that Vernita Ferry crossing to, having growing up in the Tri-Cities.

When your out on the lake keep an eye on that large island north of Mardon, their is a windmill which turns on a strobe when the wind picks up.

As you guys have stated....when they put a strobe on the lake and it blinks...its time to head for shore. It is unbelievable how fast the wind comes up there on a hot summer eve.

Just a reminder that the spots are filling up, and the resort has now opened our reserved spots to anyone. I know diesel prices will dictate a lot of travel plans this summer, but, this is a fun place to go to, great fishing, good facilities, and of course great company there. Just putting it out there again to remind everyone.
