RIP Bubba and Toby, we love you.
one husband and wife team on quads w/o helmets got kinda lucky(if you want to call it that) the ranger pulled them over, but only had one ticket left in his book - musta used the rest up on the other part of the circle.
I guess the only downside to the whole thing was the ******* ranger crusing through our camp issuing tickets

I had a feeling that the fact we had a permit meant we'd be under a microscope. I think the few odd helmet tickets were far better than the other things they could have cited for (especially the pyrotechnics shows).
By now we all know we're supposed to wear helmets. It's even more important in a big camp like that to set a good example for the kids.

Even if you did NOT have a permit, I am sure there would be BLM presence.
Last year I was on a NON-permitted dual sport ride in Mammoth. Basically we were buying a map and going on a non-guided tour of the area.
Both the BLM and USFS Rangers were around and stopping people to ask questions and coincidentally the CHP showed up on a paved section and was doing vehicle inspection.
Just the way things are these days!!

Doesnt my rhino weight more than 600 lbs?
we thought about not wearing our FULL gear until we saw what happened to JMB in his rhino nope wearing it all now...No matter what the "law" says or doesnt say!!! Friends that we go with wear nothing at all even though it says right on the rhino itself wear protective gear, Even though we told them of some rhino mishaps that we know of they said well if thats how i'm supposed to go we hate the feeling of the protective gear!
Well i am not a big fan of it either but have discovered that if you spend more money you can get gear thats not terribly uncomfortable!!! I just bought a pair of SIDI boots and compared to my cheapie crappy ones these things feel good on my feet, Tried to tell them that too.
Do they ticket on the rhino????
