Hello, I am thinking about purchasing a Honda eu1000i generator to run my Wildcat 31QBH FW. I am only looking to power the lights, furnace this winter, and maybe a TV. Do you think this will be adequate. I have no interest in powering the AC or the microwave. Nor will I be powering a coffee pot, hair dryer, electric heater, etc.

The 1000 should do it fine but we have that unit and quite often wish we had spent the additional amount and bought the 2000.

For what reasons do you wish you went with the 2000? I found a used 1000 for $450, that is why I was considering the smaller.

if your only concerned with power for lights and the furnace and maybe tv, the 1000 will do fine. You're basicly running on 12v as if dry camping so the gen would be used mainly to power the converter to recharge the batteries. No problem there.

I started with a Honda 650, then 1000ei then 3000ei and now have two 2000ei's. The 3000ei was nice, but too heavy to tote around!

You will be amazed at the versatility of the 2000! I bought a second 2000 and run it in parallel to run my 15 K BTU A/C when it's hot out. Normally I just run only one generator for TV and lights and charging the batteries. While the 1000ei will do the basics, why not spend a little more and have the option to run the microwave and other appliances. The 2000ei is just as quiet and not much more weight than the 1000ei.

If you do opt for 1000ei, you can also use it in parallel with another 1000ei unit for 2000 Watts total.

You can't go wrong with Honda electronic Inverter generator no matter what the size!

I use my 1000 to back up/supplement my solar system with inverter. The 1000 only produces 7.5 Amps of power at 120 Volts. It would be nice to have the option of using the AC, microwave, or coffee maker. As I said, the 1000 works but the 2000 would be better.

I had a 1000 Yamamaha for the exact thing you want do do and it did a fine job and would run 8 hrs on .75 of a gallon of gas. This was a older unit before the inverter type so newer are better. I changed to a 2000 Honda because of the coffee pot, toaster, and microwave that the 1000 would not run but the 2000 will. Randy

I've heard of rare occasions where the 1000 would not run some of the higher capacity converters with fully discharged batteries, but it should work OK for your purpose.

I am looking at smaller generators and really need to know what kind of amperage draw RV converters have.Specifically my intellipower 9100 series converter?
