Our favorite place in WV is Kanawha State Forest, just south of Charleston. The hiking in the mountains there is wonderful and I think you could hike for days without repeating a trail. The entrance into the area includes one hair-pin turn, but we can make it OK with our 32' 5th wheel. The campground has electric and water on 25 sites. The campground is not large, but it is beautiful with a stream running through the middle.
We have also been Pipestem and Beech Fork state parks and we liked them a lot.
WV is a really nice area to visit. The only thing to watch is the length of your TT. While all of the parks are beautiful, they aren't necessarily able to handle a rig your size.
We particularly enjoy the Seneca Rocks/Smokehole Caverns/Canan Valley and Blackwater Falls areas. All kinds of wildlife, including black bears.

battlerun coe is a great park and we really like it there, but heads up to pet owners, they don't allow them in the park, just wanted to save you some bad feelings when you get there.
OK, the time is near. Getting ready to book and Stonewall Jackson is leader. My wife really wants mountains though, and thinks this is not the place. Any assistance before this weekend would be appreciated. We love mountains, tubing, light hiking, photography, and stuff for 6 year old.

I am fairly new to WV, but have several friends who are long time residents. They would agree with anyone who suggests Blackwater Falls/Caanan Valley/Seneca Rocks. We have not hit any CG here yet since we moved into the area in Nov 07, but those are in our plans for the year already. We are going to Deep Creek Lake in Western MD in 3 weeks to check that area out, FWIW. And we plan to make Pipestem also. Stonewall Jackson looks a bit crowded for my style, but I hear it is nice too. Revelle's is highly recommended. Same owners as Yogi Bear, but has more trees. If you want, Jim, pm me and I will provide more details...

Try Babcock State Park then. In the mountains, plenty of light hiking, horseback riding in the park if you want, the most photographed grist mill in the world (all those grist mill pictures you see everywhere with the creek in front are the mill at Babcock). The New River is close by with tubing (most all the rafting companies have tubing excursions, and they have some that include kids as young as 6). It is also in the same general area I mentioned before. Summersville Lake is less than an hour away and the New River Gorge National Park/River area is about 30 minutes away. Lots of stuff to see and do.
Pipe Stem, Battle Run, etc... seem to have less than favorable reviews on RVparkreview.com. Bases on that site, Briar Point/Stonewall Jackson is one of the highest rated parks in West Virginia. Man this is tough, especially since we will be there a week and do not want to make a mistake.
