Just curious on your guys thoughts on this.

TV - 2008 F350 SRW Diesel
TT - 2008 Jayco Jayflight G2 29FBS

I want to get the Reese 1,200 lb Strait-Line Weight Distribution Trunnion Bar Kit w/ Hitch Bar (Part Number:66084)

The sales guy thinks this might be over kill with the truck and TT.

What do you guys think or suggest.

Your RV dealer thinks you have too much truck to tow his trailer? Business must be good to risk a sale that way

Much better to have too much truck than too little truck. Plus, when you want to upgrade your trailer, you'll already have the truck for it.

Sorry, let me rephrase, he thinks the Reese straightline system is to much or not needed for this TV and TT.

Your Dealer may be correct as you want to Match the WD with the Actual Tongue Weights that the Trailer has.

.... what's is the Unloaded TW listed by the maufacturer?

Dry weight is 690 but the lower level is 800 lbs bars but I know my tongue weight will be close to 1000 to 1100 lbs with propane, 2-4 batteries, 4 bikes etc.

Your dealer is a strange one for certain. Towing a 30 foot trailer with no weight distribution hitch or anti sway system is just nuts.

For what it's worth; My trailer is listed as 650 lb. dry tongue weight but fully loaded is 1200 lb.

Good luck / Skip

I suspect that will probably be just about perfect for the trailer you are going to get. I also agree with Skip's comment.

I think what the OP wanted to know was if the 12K WD hitch was the right one, or if he should get a lesser rated one. I think the next one lower are the 10k ones. If the dealer says the 12K is overkill, go with the 10K. You can always weigh the thing after you load it up. If you are over on the 10K, you can just swap out the WD bars for the bigger ones. I believe the bars are the only difference between the two hitches.
