Ken,
I've been far more uncomfortable camped in a campground near you several times than I've ever been boondocking!!! I've yet to see any one with MS13 tats while boondocking as I have at South Carlsbad SP!
Here in the West, one of the easiest and most reliable ways to find a good boondocking place is to pull into a convenient Forest Service Ranger Station and ask if there is any *disbursed camping* nearby. The staff are generally very helpful and generous with their knowledge. The Forest Service offices are usually on *the* main road with a distictive sign out front. Really works..believe me...I've done this many times in States to the S, N and W of Colorado, and have been able to stay in some beautiful places that I would probably never have found on my own. An added benefit is that you know you are legal and not trespassing on private property.

The cruising boater in us does not like to be next to others unless by our own choice. We don't like 'roughing it' either. We view our trailer as a rolling condo. 100gal fresh water capacity & 6 batterys makes for very comphy dry camping.
