The Protect-A-Tow is attached to the coach with 4 eye hooks and the toad with two. When we disconnect, we just move the two toad caribiner clips onto the edges of the towbar which we raise up parallel to the rear of the coach. This keeps the PAT off the ground and is a very convenient and quick way to disconnect. When we're ready to go again, we just clip the PAT to the toad with two clips and that's it.

I have a KarKaddy dolly and the Protect-a-tow is fastened to the dolly so I don't have to remove it if I'm only taking the toad off. It's held on with only six carabiner clips (2 at the toad & 4 on the MH) so it is fast & easy to remove, roll up & put in a bay.

I just disconnect the two connection points from the toad and hang the Protect-a-Tow from my roof ladder.

Sorry but I don't have one and it will be a while before I have it all hooked up again. When I do I'll post it & advise you.

We use the Protect-A-Tow and have nothing negative to say about it. We still get dust/dirt on our CR-V, but no rock chips. It is easy to handle when you hook or unhook your dingy. If we have to unhook at the registration area of a campground, it is easy for me to do while my wife is processing our registration. Takes all of 3-5 minutes to unhook it, roll it up and put it in the bag they provide.

If you get one, be sure to measure the distance from your MH to the dingy. We didn't and the PAT shield is a little short for our setup. They offer a longer shield that would have been perfect for us, but as they say hindsight is 20-20. The folks at PAT are helpful, just call them with your measurements and they will be able to advise you on the proper size shield.

6,500 mi with Guardian shield. easy on and easy off, no soggy, wet fabric shield to roll up, easy to handle and stow. $416.00 list, $399.00 at rv discount parts, with patience $100.00 on EBAY. Just my experience.

I've towed 3 different vehicles in excess of 100,000 miles with the same Guardian Shield and haven't had a problem with rock chips etc.

It did get a pretty good size qouge when an alligator I hit was thrown against it, but it did not hit the Jeep. Sure hurt the motor home though.
