There are many things we like about the Winnebago Tour RV, but I have two questions:
1) Does the Tour RV use travel bars? I have not spoken to a salesman as yet but someone else indicated they did, but you really didn't need to use them!
2) Any feedback on the AC under the RV instead of on the roof, pros and cons?
Thanks

We have an Adventurer -2000 with the basement air -- we have really enjoyed it -- cools evenly and is a lot quieter than a roof air.

Happy Trails

Look here for discussion on basement air.

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

I have an Ellipse...almost the same MH.
We love it.
As to the basement AC...I was wondering about that too since all I had was roof AC in my other MHs...I'll tell you my opinion after one summer....I love it, Very Quiet!

Here is a basement AC video test

Here is a link to a few videos of the Ellipse I did

I don't know what a travel bar is??

If you have any questions, send me a PM.

We have a Meridian with basement a/c and at a recent rally in 100+ degree weather, only had 30 amp service. We could run our air with no problem and were very cool and comfortable. Our friends had a 40' coach with roof airs and could only run 1 at a time and were very hot. We ended up spending a lot of time in our coach -- I liked the basement air!

Perhaps the Tour slides are different, but we do not use (or have) travel bars in our slides.

We have a 2005 Adventurer. The basement air is quieter, except when your sleeping, as you are just above the unit. But the roof air would be just overhead. I think, compared to my last PaceArrow, and previous Holiday Rambler, the basement air is an improvement. Down side, service is complex, as the unit is sort of sealed under the coach. Reading the specks on dropping the unit for service almost mandates a service center. Walked through the Tour at the Pomona RV show, and loved it. It has a really nice layout.

1)The Tour uses electric locks on the front slides, not travel bars.
2)The basement AC works very well even on 30 amp sites. The heat pump works well in colder weather. No water run off of the roof all the time either.

I have a 2006 40FD Tour. If you have any other questions send me a private notification and I'll try to answer you.
