First off, I'd like to ask the kind permission of the rv.net moderators to introduce Open Roads Radio. I promise not to make a habit of pushing another forum on their bandwidth beyond this post of introduction.

I have noted often the amateur community, not just here but on several sites, has longed for a forum where two kinds of people converge...those who love to RV, and those who love amateur radio. And now such a forum exsists in Open Roads Radio. It's brand new, coming online this week!

Our aim is to provide a friendly forum that is also a wealth of information on mobile communications of all kinds, plus club and net information, Skywarn, ARES, how to become a ham and more. Plus a plethora of RV information and how the RV and ham radio worlds converge for fun and community service. (You could, for instance, turn the average motor home into a mobile command center in short order, right?)

I did some Google research to try and find an online forum for RVing and ham radio. I found the web sites for all the RV nets but found no forums, therefore decided to meet that need.

It is not our intention to "steal members" or compete with other forums or sites. This overlaping of interests creates a community of folks that isn' very large but I suspect will be like a family, or at least that is our intent.

All the hams, and wanna be hams, and wanna be RVers for that matter are welcome. You don't need stuff, you need interest.

Again I'd like to thank the moderators for their kind indulgence here, there will be no other 'push' for www.openroadsradio.net

Doesn't the Escapee site have a ham (amateur radio) forum???
Thanks for the heads up on the new one!

I will Be glad to participate however, I wish you would re-think some of the color schemes on your site. ie, Your rules are almost impossible for an old man like me with poor eyes to read, black on dark gray. JMHO!

Well, I will take a look too! We have a class B Sprinter and I sure would welcome suggestions about antenna mounting!

I'll get my technical guru to fix that. It's just standard forum legal jumbo anyway.

Make sure you use openroadsradio - not openroadradio as is shown in the very last line of the first message. You'll get a Motorcycle web page! The link to the openroadSradio (note the plural form of roads)will take you to the right link!

Guess how I found out?
