Well I have to say that I have not had a problem with Forest River. I had some warranty work done at my dealer and they took very good care of me. I think Forest River is getting a bad rap. Owning a RV isn't any different than owning a home. You learn how to fix things yourself. I am lucky that I was a Plumber for 8 years. I also learned carpentry and a little electrical work too. So when something goes wrong I fix it myself. Granted if you spend any amount of money, you want someone held responsible to fix your problems.
But think about this, If you buy a house, be it new or used, and something goes wrong, what do you do? If its new, you hope that it is warranted. And that someone will come out to fix your problem. Used...well you my be out of luck. The other alternative is to learn how to fix it yourself. RV's aren't that hard to work on. Hey people learn how to work on there cars or trucks...right?
It can be frustrating at times. I know that. But think about it, if you do the work yourself it probably will get done faster and you can do it your way.
Just my opinion.

Great point but when you buy new WITH A WARRANTY than i feel the warranty should be honored. Forest River is stirring up a hornets nest by not standing behind the consumer. This seems to be standing behind the dealer not the consumer.
Sounds like you are innovative and adventurous to work on your own unit but you shouldn't have to if it has a warranty! I don't like the threats of the manufacture and suggest seek alternatives to the Forest River product! Forest River may be the new bully on the block but that won't last long. When they continue to lose market share as they have done they will eventually listen to the good old fashion customer!
How many customers came up with that ridiculous assertion to buy local! I'll place a nice wager that it was the dealers crying over lost business. Listen up dealers I'll tell you a secret.......QUIT GOUGING CUSTOMERS! They will buy if your NICE AND FAIR! Good Luck!

Unfortunately when there is a scarce population of RV dealerships in rural locations you often have to travel either south or north to find a dealer with a decent quantity of inventory turns to assure they actually sell at a reasonable price. I would have traveled to NY state at RVDirect or had RVWholesalers ship to my door had I not found a good dealer in NH.
I buy nothing but caulking and a few odds and ends from the local dealers in southern Maine - they overcharge for everything and sometimes it's a tad short of legal robbery what they want on accessories.
Good luck to shoppers, FR makes some decent product lines (Rockwood Signature Ultralight, ROO hybrid and the Cedar Creek Silverback 5th wheel) but as a whole there are some much better brands out there especially in the PU market.

Luckily for me, RVDirect is the closest FR dealer,
and at only a hour away, I have the double benefit of the big savings and no problem with warranty work. The one issue I had was fixed while I waited and only took a week to get the appt. While there, they gave my rockwood PuP the once over and found something else I hadn't even noticed. They fixed that too and sent me on the way.
No complaints at all with dealer nor service. I gotta say it was easier to get that in the shop and fixed correctly than getting the wifes Subaru's problem taken care of after 3 tries from the dealer.
Just my 2 cents...
Happy to be the wondering wanderer,

Yes, it is. Picked up my freedom 1980 at a march show last year at some college sports complex. Alotta Pup for the money, and they threw in the hitch/install and brake controller also to "seal" the deal.
We spent 19 nights in it the first season. no regrets. How do you like yours?

We love it. We have a premier 1904. Picked it up this past March. We went up though Maine for our honeymoon this past Aug. Spent 2 weeks in it.
No regrets.

I've been reading post's about rvwholesalers and rvdirect. Since I'm a new member, I'm finding this whole internet buying thing very interesting. I'm working with Tom Raper (Molly)on ordering a Travel Supreme fifth wheel and never thought buying an Rv could be fun; but when you can build up rv's a zillion different ways and get pricing. WOW, the internet has definitely changed things. I would recommend her to anybody.
