I have a Dodge CTD, it is the 2005 with the 48RE Auto Tranny. I see that Pacbrake has an exhaust brake for this vehicle. If anyone has had this installed could you answer a few questions for me.
1. Any problems or does the transmission need upgrades?
2. Since I have the latest ECM Flash will I still need Pacbrake part C18070 Trans Lock Up Kit?
I pull at the max and would like to have the Pacbrake (C44045) installed but worry that other than requiered ECM By-pass kit I might need more transmission work to install the exhaust brake.
Thank-you-in-advance for any information you can provide me.

I started a topic/thread on this very subject some time ago (9-01-07), with many responses that I think you'll find informative.
I think you'd find this link on this forum very helpful, as many people posted opinions and experiences about the Pacbrake exhaust brake on their Dodge Cummins powered pickups.

The latest I know, is that if you put the Jacobs E-brake on an 04 or 05 with the 48RE Automatic/cummins, Mopar can cancel your warranty, as it is not recommended. Mopar did some changes to the 48Re tranny for the 06 Cummins P.U. and the Jacobs E brake is ok'd.
Others on the forum can supply the details of the minor altering or change to the automatic that made the difference. There is both a mechanical change and a reflash or computer change.
The Turbo Diesel Register is a great publication for CTD drivers.
They have kept up on the 05 Auto Exhaust Brake issue.
Current Status is Chrysler does not approve and won't conduct Software upgrades to "factory permit". Apparently the sticking point is some component in the transmission is potentially/likely vulnerable when locked up and was hardened/changed in 06.
If you care about your CTD, I strongly suggest you join the TDR. ALL the details I summarized from memory as stated above where in recent issues.
Its quarterly and has lots of information specific to and organized by Generation/years. They currently have a free back issue offer to check them out.
