Does anyone know of a program that works well to convert my old record albums to a MP3 or wav files ? I would also like it to be able to filter out the clicks and hiss. I know the topic was discussed before but I can not find it. I tried a program called Vinyl Studio but it was pretty time consuming to do an album. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I think it is Roxio that has an option called "Spin Doctor" that let's you apply filters for hiss and pop/scratches and adjust some of the EQ as you capture the album sound.
It's been a while since I've captured vinyl album cuts but I recall that all of my turntables needed their output to pass through a pre-amp before going into analog input of PC I/O buss/dongle or sound card input.
You can buy a stand-alone preamp or other adapter for your turntable output. Anyhow, nothing difficult - plug turntable output into PC with capture software open with filter levels set and record track at a time or album side at a time.
Roxio and Nero have options to capture albums as .wav or mp3.

I'm using Cool Edit 2000 which can now be purchased as Adobe Audition. The noise reduction software does a phenomenal job on noisy LP's. I've been working through my LP collection in anticipation of getting on the road someday.
Thanx for the info everyone. I already have the turntable and preamp. I was just looking for the software. Wow, Adobe must be proud of that program for $300.00. I will look thru my older programs. I never thought of Roxio or Nero.
When I bought Cool Edit, it was about $60. Since Adobe bought out Syntrillium Software they really built it up as editing software. All the bells and whistles don't interest me but the NR software takes out the pops and clicks beautifully.
