Most Canadian businesses really don't seem to understand the modern world. I just bought a fairly high-end coffee-maker. It was $450 in our local kitchen shop and $299 at Sears Canada.

and to think that I still have to make my coffee in a $14.95 Cdn 12 cup coffee maker (with auto shut-off no less) I bought from Zeller's 6 years ago.

Now careful there, Sir Frances Drake is about to shut this down - cuz it might be politicized. The thought police might need to get a real job.....

So, PB, the winter lights you use in your 5er when you check how it's doing in storage, eh? Did you find them at the local RV shop?

Well of course; but you can also order them from Camping World under "5th wheel night-time winter storage checking lights" or just ask Santa for some.

It is only going to get worse for our Canadian cousins with the US dollar dropping against the Cd dollar

Not sure I understand that.. the Canadian $ would buy more American stuff then, wouldn't it? Just curious..

This fall a neighbor and myself were in the market for large (16KW) generators for our farm and ranch. The price from my electrical wholesalers was $5250, from an official, local, Generac dealer $6600! Shopped on the web and found the same one from a US distributer for $3400. At that price I got three other neighbors interested and we ordered 5 units. These were shipped free to our choice of destination near to the border, where we picked them up, paid GST (no duty as these items are made in the USA) and proceeded home. When I asked our local dealer why he was charging $6600 for the identical unit he said he has to pay customs and duty. What a big lie!!! A brokerage fee of lets say $200 per genset doesnt justify doubling the price!

I agree; it would be interesting to see his invoice price.
