What does a bison dress out, fifty or sixty percent?

If you know your biz 60-70%. A beef cow dresses 50% at the most.

Maybe you should get out of farming and get on the gravey train at a retail outlet.

I am out of farming, retired for the 4th time since 1989, the bison has replaced the beef cow and sheep replaced the hogs. But not enough profit in either when imports come into the picture.

Back to the topic a bit. A good buddy of mine ran a resale business. You know, buy from a distributor and resell out to end users. He is relatively small but solid. He found one of his product lines online in the US retail market for less than his distributor charges. He went to his distributor and asked. His answer wasn't satisfactory. So now HE buys retail in bulk (actually gets a good discount because of it ) bypasses the Canadian distributor. Pays his shipping and import costs and then resells for less than others in our market. Same product, same packaging, same country of origin etc. etc. IF the RV retailers figured that out then maybe they could choose to lower their prices too. Who says you have to use a Canadian distributor? Just means more hassle to ship and import but if that gives you 5% more margin why not?

As for local RV parts there are quite a few choices. If you go online they all suck but if you call or go in person their prices are competitive with US based online shops once shipping is factored in.
