This happens to me quite a lot. Granted my rig seems unusual and with both slides out it is quite a site to see but I have to say that timing is everything here. It's ok to catch me outside and strike up a conversation and then ask to see. It's ok if my door is open or I'm working around the rig. It's ok if I'm just pulling into the camp ground and you've just got to ask about my setup. That's what usually happens! I've gotten used to setting up and starting the tours right away, I don't mind, really!

But I do have to say that I'm a little tired of people knocking on my door late in the evenings when I'm trying to relax or have a bite to eat or even once after I had gone to bed! I say keep it early in the day if you're gonna knock or better yet catch me outside, I'll be happy to give you the grand tour!

So you folks that show your camper to anyone that strikes up a conversation with you, also show your house to anybody that asks. I have shown my rig but only to folks that I know.

I had a guy that was looking at the house for sale next door to me come over and knock on my door and start asking questions. How would you feel about that? I think it is very rude to just ask someone to see the inside of their home on the road.

I agree with Stagecoach. Pretty brazen to knock and ask for a tour. That's what RV shows are for.

My Mother-in-law died and we had some class act show up at the kitchen door with a plate of cookies and wanted a tour of her house as he thought it might be his "forever" house. He seemed apoplectic when I told him where he could put his cookies!

I'll do the choosing as to who sees the inside of my "home on wheels" and you can just about rest assured it won't include somebody that knocks on my door and invites him/her self inside for a tour. For all I know they just might be casing it for a later, when we're gone, visit.

Just leave the kids & dog(s) at your own site when you do it! :-)

I had a fella stop in as I was in the yard and he asked me about the neighborhood. about as windy as the wild west that day. he ended up buying and they became good friends.

I would not like someone knocking on the door and interrupting my private time (like dinner or sleep) however, If I am outside, and most of the time I am except for dinner and sleep, and you asked about my trailer I would love to brag on it and show you around.

I totally agree! We're almost never inside unless we're sleeping or eating or doing something that we wouldn't want you interrupting...

Bumpyroad,

Hey if I'm out in the yard that's one thing but to knock on the door and start asking about the neighborhood is another. I'm not selling the house ask the agent about the place. Can you imagine if everyone felt like they could knock on your door and ask all the questions they wanted, maybe even tour your house while they are at it!

I wouldn't mind if someone came knocking to do a walk-thru...but I wouldn't knock on someone's door for a walk-thru....If you do knock make sure it's isn't too late or too early.....we tend to sleep in when we are RVing.....

Try and catch them outside, but not when they are doing something, like cooking, playing a game, etc. I think that we all have asked or been asked, and we weould let you in to look in a heartbeat!
