We love to camp in the N. GA mountains. Ever been to Fort Mountain State Park near Chatsworth? We've camped at Harrison Bay but have never been to Chester Frost. If I remember correctly it is across the river from Harrison Bay. The last weather I saw for the weekend showed upper 50's for the highs. Have a good one and enjoy your trip.
Congratulations on your new pup. We just got ours at the end of August and have still only been able to make it out once, not counting several cancellations. Planned a five day trip for Thanksgiving but ended up having to cancel. Just the wife and I and 3 little dogs. Oh, did I mention that we were just across the lake in Ooltewah. Plan on spending alot of time in and around the Smokies and the Ocoee River gorge this spring.
See you on the road.
No obnoxious/screaming kids running through MY campsite, no neighbor's dog for me to watch doing it's "business" up-wind from me, no neighbors that think everyone enjoys their style of loud music, no boisterous drunks trying to keep from falling into the campfire, no loud people arriving at 1:00 am trying to figure out how to errect a new tent......
Not very sad at all IMHO.

I live for late October/early November. It doesn't usually snow around here until January or February, if then. So, camping is possible year round. Once the kids are back in school, the Olympic Peninsula is OURS. This is a picture of our favorite campsite at our favorite time of year. Notice how many neighbors we have.
I'm a boondocker and here on the east coast finding remote places to camp with a PUP requires a bit of research and scouting. As a result, I discovered another way to have a park to yourself is to go off season. Now I don't mean just off season as in winter, everyone has that figured out, but there are other "seasons" such as trout season or hunting season. Some parks and camps cater to sportsmen primarily. Go when they aren't there.
Example: Hidden Valley (Federal) outside of Warm Springs, Va., is packed during trout season, but empty in the hotter summer months.

I was going to ask if that was at the Hoh, but I see from the filename of the pic, it's on the Elwha. Just don't tell anyone how beautiful it is here in our little corner of the world, okay?
Well we are down in FL and waiting to head up north to give the campgrounds some company! Little over 2 weeks and counting. Hopefully the cold will arrive and get to making some snow in the TN, NC area, the kids love the stuff...not to mention the goofy dog!
