Hi folks:

Well, here's my 2cents worth. We've been Rving since 93 and have put on many miles and stayed at various and sundry places so I guess I have seen pretty much all types of parks. Most have been pretty nice with exceptions of course. Here's one that used to be pretty nice but the past 2 times that we stayed there, things seemed to have changed. I'm talking about the Pismo Coast Village in Pismo Beach, Ca. A few years back, the sites were pretty spacious and easy to access. The last couple of times we have stayed there, it seemed that it became very crowded. They don't seem to have much control over the tow vehicles as well as the extra vehicles that folks bring with them. This past summer we stayed there and It took me 1/2 hour to pull into my spot because there were so many cars/trucks, boats etc parked on the roads that I couldn't get my rig in. I had to go to each of the sites around me and find someone to move there car. Most of the people were away from the campsite and I had to wait til they got back. A couple of campsites had 4 or more extra vehicles parked on the street next to the site. I talked to the people at the office and was told that there wasn't much they could do about it. When I did finally get my 5er in and set up, I found that the fire ring at the spot next to me was only about 3 feet away from my trailer. As I said, since 93 we have stayed there many times, but it seems that these past few years, they are really smashing people in. It's too bad because, although it's a nice place near the town/beach etc abiet a bit pricy, it's still a good place to stop when travelling up north.
As I said, this is just my 2 cents worth.
happy camping
Manny

I'm at Sam's Town right now and was here last year as well. Never noticed any stinks unless you put your beak right in the sewer connection. This place is handy people are friendly, and the casino and restaurants are right here, plus there's good security people around all the time. plus the pool and showers and tv and phone hook-ups and all the good stuff that make rv'ing easy. Was kinda surprised the girl at the front desk didn't know of any shuttles out to Boulder Dam though...anyone taken any of them from Vegas?

...Figured it out..., Showtime has shuttles to the Dam.., if at Sam's just check with the Bellman's window just outside the main door and they will have the brochures and the times. Showtime shuttle picks up at all the major hotels.
As far as the sewer stink..we did notice a moment of sewer gas stink after the people next to us rolled on out about an hour ago, only briefly. Wouldn't hold it against Sam's.

I don't think its an absurd post, just one persons opinion. You as a reader should be able to evaluate it, make your comments and then move on. We all have different value systems. It's like a teacher telling a student, thats a dumb question. This is a forum for discussion in my opinion. I for one see a lot of stupid posts (to me) but not to the person who writes it.

I don't get this subject. Rvs are mobile. Why stay at an RV park you don't like?
MOVE.
RV parks to Avoid are those right along the expressway.
We have been full time for three years. Worst parks for us were run down parks along the expressways or any park along expressways. But we only stayed one night in those rare cases. Walmarts fall in that catagory OK for one night but you must be observant some are really too busy or in a rough neighborhood.

We did that once or twice. We once moved from Circle Pines KOA in Williams. They put a bunch of hoodlums next to us. They were with so many people they had some of their vehicles overlapping on our sites and sleeping in the back of their pickups. When we were in our camper we could look out the window straight into the back of their pickups. They wouldn't move these guys and more kept coming and they let them in. We had to assume that management was afraid of them as well so we moved. That said, I do understand they have new management now and that things are different. We were there in summer 2000.

We also moved once from Kountree Kampinn in Naples. We left and were lucky enough to land reservations for a couple of days at Fort Wilderness. That was a case of we own the campground you have rules that you have to abide by and we don't etc.

Keep in mind, it's not always easy to move. You can't always get a different spot in the wintertime in Florida. I think the vacancy rate is very low. We were just very very lucky to be accommodated at FW.

You're right about expressway campgrounds they are pretty bad. There's one bad one in Kentucky just before you hit the Ohio border on the I-75. Their showers are so old and worn down that only one hole opened up in the shower head due to build up of lime. We just as soon go 15 miles further down the highway and stay at the flying J.

We're pretty flexible when it comes to selecting campgrounds. If it's a paved parking lot and we're basically in a city campground then it's okay because we understand we're in a city. Same with when we're in Moab UT, we didn't blame a campground for a little red dust. When we're at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle beach we find there are a lot of golf carts but understand that it's a very bustling sea side resort. Based on those criteria we will visit again.

What will keep us away? Excessively unfriendly staff, dirty unkept sites, dirty bathhouses, many unreasonable rules for transients that don't apply to seasonals and that's about it and surrounding areas that don't appeal to me (not the cgs fault).

As far as motorcycles are concerned I think it's just a case of a few ruined it for others. I wouldn't mind one bit if people would ride their motorcycles out of the campground. However, we were at Tropical Palms in Florida in March 2006 (Daytona bike week) and bikers didn't just exit the campground with their Harleys. The revved them first for quite a while, looking around to see who's watching. Then finally instead of just driving out of the campground they first have to circle the entire campground go up and down serval paths with the "look at me" attitude. Then at night (thank heavens they weren't around us) they acted like wild party animals all night. Now, I know there were bikers that didn't do that and I feel for them if rules are changed but that always seems to be the way it is.
