Down the road I might be looking into a TH. Looking into the larger ones, they're on the heavy side especially when factoring in loading all the toys. So my question is for you guys that have the larger FW TH running in the 16k plus range, what kind of TV are you using and for all around use and pulling do you like it? My perfect vehicle would be one that could handle that kind of weight, be either 4 doors or at least have a rear seat for the kids, be able to put a 4 wheeler behind the cab and still be able to pull a fw, and still be easy enough to get around town and sight see when out and about. Thanks Aaron
Ford,Dodge or GM 1 ton crew cab dual rear wheel diesel auto. If that won't safely and easilly pull what yer towing, buy a smaller TH. It's very easy to be overweight with a 3/4 ton. Been there and already done that myself.
Happy camping!!! See ya'll down the road!!!

You did know that Motor home Magazine puts out a yearly DINGHY TOWING VEHICLE list for flat (all four wheels down) towing. as for your need and the cost that has a lot to do with you. I like the jeeps myself, Liberty has a whole new look, but no change is seat area. The Commander I have not checked out as yet. GMC has a lot of tow vehicles with most leaning to drivers over all comfort. I also like the American autos over imports. However, their seem to be alot of HONDA loverers in thins forum. The best advise I could give you is to seat down a write down your needs then wants and look at the Motorhome Magazine list of Dighy Tows shown at the bottom of the main page. Print out the list and start your search. GMC has more than shown on the 2007 seven list. However the kicker is you can not drive over 65mph. Next you have to stop and start it about every 200 miles. So you will need to check what works best for your family.
06 Winnebago, TOUR 36' W/3 sliders. My towing system is the "Unified Tow Brake" I'm old and slow and most always in the right lane.
I think Vin_number missunderstood the initial post or was in the wrong forum all together.
aarondeere - I don't think that you can get an ATV in the bed of any truck and still get the 5er hooked up. The placement of the hitch is over the rear wheels which, in most cases, is almost in the middle of the length of the truck bed. If you want to haul an atv and the 5er, you might be looking at a custom 4500 or larger truck.
If you are considering a 16K TH, you should be looking at a 3500/350 or larger truck. There are some good posts on this form for weight distribution and calculation so that you can match the TV with the TH and all the toys/load. Whatever you do, get all the numbers right first before buying anything and don't listen to the dealer. As has been said here many times, do your homework first not last.
Good luck and happy camping.

I use an 07 Dodge Dually 6.7 CTD with 6 sp manual to pull my TH.... With two ATVs in the garage and water full, our camper is 16k pounds. We also tandem-tow a double jetski trailer behind it on occasion - which brings the weight to 18k pounds.
At this weight, you're definately going to want a daully as the pin weight on the rear of the truck is going to put the truck's rear axle weight at about 6,500 lbs. - at, or just over the max for 2 load range E tires. As a result, I wouldn't recommend a single rear wheel truck.
Drive all three dually's and pick the one you like best.
Sounds like he is looking for one of the larger tow vehicles like the 550/650 and Kodiaks. Some of those have a long enough frame to put an ATV in the bed sideways and still have room to tow a 5th wheel trailer. I've seen several with golf carts and such up there.
Same as most everyone else said; do your homework, find out what the weights are gonna be, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE SALES PEOPLE IN THE STEALERSHIPS!Then get something large enough to never leave you wishing you would have gotten the bigger one.
