I finally got my rv winterized except for one item. I was told I am supposed to take the little screen off where the city water is hooked up and push something until pink comes out. How do I get that screen off?

Thanks

In reading my Owners Manual, I saw nothing about a screen. It just tells me how to drain my water system and pump the RV antifreeze through the water system.

So I went outside and looked at the city water intake on the side of the trailer. I could see a screen filter with a rubber washer like lining to hold the filter in the recepticle (Just like a garden hose intake filter). I pryed it out around the edges with a penknife.

The screen looked clean, nothing clogging it.

After removing the screen and looking inside the city water intake recepticle I saw a small white plastic device with what looked like a spring behind it. Not wanting to have a spring popout, I quickly put the filter back in.

All of this made me think about keeping the white water hose clean with chlorine and using in-line cartridge filters.

I also searched this site for "water filters" and read some interesting info.

William, Did you blow out your lines with compressed air or just drain the lines? If you blew out the lines you should not have any water in the city water hook up.

Here is a thread on the topic that you might want to read. It has detail instructions to replace the valve should you have a problem.

Hope this helps.

The plastic pin behind the screen, with the spring behind it, is what you need to depress until the pink stuff runs out. DO NOT press it in while the system is pressurized! Open a valve to release the pressure, then press it in. Otherwise, you will need the instructions provided in He Ruide's post.
