Interesting! I sent an email to ALK and got a response back within a couple hours.
Back in August, when I purchased the competitive upgrade I mentioned in my prior post, I sent three emails asking for solutions to the problems I was having.
Well it's been over four months and still no answer...
I did send Co-Pilot 10 back to ALK for a full refund. In my refund request I documented all the problems I had encountered using their product. Other than the full refund I never got a response.
Other folks here swear by this product - I swear at it!
It will be a long time before I try another ALK product again. In the future if ALK can improve on their inferior product I'll give it another try.
It's to bad they don't have a system like a lot of other software, try it for 15-30 days and run it through it's paces, then if you like it you pay for it. If not it freezes up. But I guess they might go out of business if people find out the data base is ancient and the support stinks!
Have you guys tried calling, many email servers bounce some peoples email as junk. It's hard for a company not to run their systems with spam filters, just multiply the junk mail you receive by hundreds, and that is what many companies deal with.
Maybe they didn't ignore you, but they never received the email. I find phone calls are usually returned.

Sure I made phone calls, about 10 calls in all. EVERY tech I spoke to was unaware of any of the problems I encountered and EVERY tech I spoke to was totally clueless for an answer.
I will give them some credit - they do honor their 30 day money back guarantee.
IMHO there is not a single PC mapping software program out there that does it all and does it well. As for Co-Pilot 10 it does neither.
Stick with the other major players for GPS software you'll be much better off.

I got my $29 CoPilot 9 and after a short test it worth just about $29. Glad I did not pay any more for it. Compared to my Garmin GPS 18 the CoPilot is lacking in function and configurability. All I can say is that it just a little better that a map and paper/pencil.

..."no better than paper and pencil" I don't want this thread to close with this comment. I have just finished a two week long trip from Indianapolis to three cities in South central Fl and then to North Carolina with four destinations and found CoPilot 9 to be a very effective navigation system on my laptop. For remote locations on small old logging roads I used Google Earth to see my destination up close to the borders of a National Park where our friends have a vacation home on narrow steep gravel roads and used Lat/Long to create a custom spot with L/L entry into CoPilot and found the dirt road and their house. The speed readout helped my realize my speedo is three MPH high and the speed warning beep kept my under the 75mph I set in and the visual on the laptop helped me follow as our local friends took us out to eat and then I used the POI to find the local Holocaust Museum in Orlando but it was hidden by road construction but I could try to freely track the local streets and GPS recalculated my track and help me find our destination. I enjoy the top line showing in text the distance to the next route change and also the ETA time given at the bottom of the screen to phone ahead with my arivial time. I found the 2,1, .3 mile voice announce of the next turn was Ok but the last 'turn now' was late so I added/selected a 6sec/100 ft lead time for that last announcement. The voice commands were still there when the laptop went to sleep and the plot on the laptop helped me picture my track as around Jacksonville, FL as it sent me around instead of through down town as I set track as for RV/truck. With a IBM ThinkPad from overstock.com and CoPilot I was very functional with WIFI/email and GPS for under $400 spent. I am afraid the USB plug in to the side of my laptop will be broken off as carring between the seats in the RV... looking for a stubby adapter that has mult USB slots on short plug in and 4" cord to make a more streamlined stubby plug in.

I almost forgot about this thread. I will have to say that after using it for awhile it is not all that bad.

The newest Co-Pilot Live 11 had 3D as the Live 10 also was 3D.
