Hello, one of the spring projects for the PUP this coming season will be to replace the old UGLY stock stop/turn lights on the PUP with some new LED units. I searched the archives and I know i do not want to just replace the bulbs, I want to replace the entire fixture. I have read that there arent any direct replacements and was looking for some advice from you fellow PUP owners as to what you have done to your PUP. The side marker lights will be easy enough, i already found the ones i want at superbrightleds.com.
I believe i could just remove the stock units and put on other fixtures without too much trouble. I might have to do some cleaning of the exterior to remove any visible lines of where the stock units were, but that shoudnt be a problem.
as always any help is appreciated

I am thinking of doing the same thing with our Fleetwood Mesa. I would include the side marker lights as well. Been inspired by CKPOPUP and his mods.

My first thought, too. Then I remembered all the fun I had the first year I owned my pop up doing mods. I have run out of major things to do for the pup and am going through "mod withdrawal." If it gets any worse, I might be shopping for new tail lights myself.

I bought new housings and added the bulbs since I could not find a good fit of a replacement fixture for mine.

This is where I got the bulbs.. since they are lit 360 degrees, the reflect well off the original housing.

Valid question. In a word, safety. The LED lights are able to be seen farther, in foggy conditions, in smoke and other environmental conditions that typically dim out the conventional bulbs. The advancement in automotive lighting in recent years is phenomenal. It would all be about safety.

CKPOPUP I love what you have done to your PUP! It is a good looking PUP. ( i checked out all your mod pics) I might just go the same way you did if i cant find any replacement fixtures i like. BUT i will be using the same LED marker lights you have!
To answer someone else's question of "why bother" i believe it is just a personal thing, wanting to make your PUP "yours" and unique in some way, and of course improving it's overall performance.

I cant wait to do some mods i have been wanting to do. lights, sound system, with a built in jack so when me and the DW watch a movie on the laptop or DVD player we can have some surround sound! and of course find soem way to increase the storage space in the PUP. we have alot of "cabinets" but they are usually full of water pump, hot water heater, etc....and are just doors for accessing these parts. the only real storage we have in the PUP is under the couch, and the seats for the dinette. i have to find a way to better organize those areas. oh well, christmas is coming and i have my list for santa all made out!!!!

not sure on a pup, but on my TT I found lights that were direct replacements for the original side/front marker lights at Wally World. For the tail/stoplights, I found one I liked at Advance Auto and just had a friend make a diamond plate backer to hide the existing holes. If you wanna see pics of it, just PM me and I will email them to you.

you forgot to mention what was somebody else's reasoning, that they lit up a few microseconds earlier, for brake lights. of course not following somebody too closely would work better, but then.
