As you can see, opinions run hot and cold. I prefer the BAL to boards any day. Much more stable (one of the biggest reasons to use the BAL), lot's easier than trying to drive the PUP onto a pile of unstable boards. Only real problem I've had with the BAL is sometimes it can be a little hard to get it under or out from under a large tire -- our PUP has 205/75D14 tires. Being able to park on an uneven site and get the PUP leveled makes it work the little bit of extra effort!

Bob, I had the same problem with LT235/75R15C tires. I expanded it with a scissor jack. Here is the picture.

When camping, I never leave home without it. Even if it is only 1/2 inch off side to side. I still use it as it makes the whole PU unit much more stable.
