rv-time,
After thinking about it, you have a good point after hearing what you thought about what was said about keeping the auction and meeting together and you said to keep it in Ohio and no matter if the tailgate rally goes out of the state every other year. Realy just about everything you said we think would be good.
And of course we are not offended, everybody has a right to their own opinion.
We need more people to speakup and voice their thoughts and anybody have a question like Rodger had should feel free to ask. and if I myself come across
sounding upset I don't mean too. We all care about each other and that is what counts. Sorry I didn't mean to get so serious.

But seriously now…
Dee… what is great is that the Ohio Rally folks do speak their piece… freely. It’s amazing that for such a non-formal unorganized group of nomads can be so seeming organized and gets things done.
I read nothing in any of your posts that sound upset, or did I miss something?
And by the way you are doing a bang-up job in organizing, scheduling and hosting the PSU/OSU rally… keep up the good work.
No offense taken here, Jim, in fact I think I was the first to float the idea of Ohio-only sactioned rallies. The only thing I have to disagree with is that a rally in PA (or Michigan, Indiana, or West Virginia) is automatically a great distance for everyone to travel, it's all relative to where you live. A rally in PA can be closer for the folks in eastern Ohio than it is if it's held in the Dayton area for instance. But I feel that "Ohio Rallies" should be held in Ohio.

Point well taken Manny. We are in what might be considered the north central area of O-H…I-O, right in the Heart of it All. I’ve noticed that when we travel for an out of state Rally weekend on a Friday after work, we often get there for desert only. Not complaining mind you. Maybe I’m letting my stomach do my thinking on this one.
I agree distance and TIME is in the eye on the beholder. Of course with us becoming retired MH’r (or is that RV’r) we’ll have all the TIME in the world to join the Rally group wherever they may roam.
PS: Nice looking Brave you got there... how hot is the water?

You volunteering Carol to work on Manny's water heater? Remember, you picked her. I don't know if you knew Manny, but Jim found the inlet check valve bad on his coach, then proceded to stuff Carol into the compartment to fix it. She's plenty capable of doing the job but it might cost you quite a bit to get her back in that compartment.
We can discuss all these proposed changes in a couple weeks. Plenty of good ideas, is anybody keeping track?
Have we decided if there will only be 1 sactioned Rally per month and all others are unsactioned? And have we decided to do dual Rallies on the same week-end to keep up with the diversity of this group?

Living in SW Ohio, we end up traveling 3 to 4 hours or more to most Ohio Rally Outings.
We really do enjoy spending time with everyone, but for a weekend trip it is a lot of driving, so we do have to limit our trips.
Any Rally here in SW Ohio or within 2 hours for us would be awesome.
I hope to be finished with chemo by late May.
We are interested in hosting or co-hosting a Rally after that.
So keep us in mind for a Rally in SW Ohio.

I may be in the minority (as I usually am), but for what it's worth, a BIG part of my RVing involves not only camping, but TRAVELING. As I said, I may be different, but I like getting behind the wheel of my RV and setting sail for a destination. Steve and Duane will understand that in some ways it is a lot like planning a flight. I like to look at maps and lay out a route. Part of the fun of RVing involves planning stops along the way to fuel up or some other minor distraction. If all I wanted to do was stay in my camper all weekend, I would leave it in the driveway and move into it on Friday when I get home from work. I think Linda would go for that too. Don't in any way take this to minimize the actual camping experience. Atop the list is getting to see all the great friends we have made within this group. I also enjoy whatever activities are associated with our rallies. Whether it be a campfire, a potluck, or some special attraction or rally theme. While I am at it, I think it bears repeating that there is nothing about our rallies that implies mandatory participation. Jim is correct that we seem to get things done, because there are many who are willing to step forward and take on the task of doing....whatever. Why? Because we all enjoy doing what we are doing. What we are doing, however, is not limited to a structured schedule of events, but rather a loose framework which does not require participation. For what it's worth, I work hard during the week, and endure a lot of stress. There have been times when Linda and I go camping when all I want to do is rest. Nap, sleep, read, watch TV and just plain veg out. I'm not being anti-social, just trying to restore a semblance of sanity. Camping helps me do that and my friends help also. The model works for me and I hope it doesn't change.
As far as sanctioned and un-sanctioned rallies, my personal preference is to have one, sanctioned rally each month, May to October. By doing this we know well in advance what the plan is and can make whatever arrangements we want regarding attendance. This leaves the rest of the month for other activities including un-sanctioned rallies. Difference? Sanctioned rally hosts get a dangly. Other than that, it is not only allowable, but actually encouraged that other gatherings take place. I personally think on any off weekend, it would be fine to have several gatherings in several locations throughout our state, or even farther. There are some in our group who prefer to stay close to home to minimize time and expense. This is fine, understandable and most certainly acceptable. It would be counter productive to keep our sanctioned rallies centrally located because that would mean everything would take place in Columbus. A situation which would get boring very quickly. So, why not let the sanctioned rallies be where they will be and the rest of the month the members of the group can and will do what they want. If you want to go camping and want some company, put up a thread and link it to the rally schedule thread or the current, sanctioned rally thread. I don't think anyone will get their nose out of joint about that.
I personally believe one big reason for the success of this group is the lack of rules and restrictions. If you have rules, someone will break them. Then someone will complain about the person breaking them and the whole thing spirals out of control. Remember KISS!! Keep It Simple Stupid!!! (refering to myself of course).
I don't think I am alone in saying that traveling is enjoyable to me and don't mind going long distances. For this reason I like rallies outside of Ohio. I enjoy the Bulltown rally, still remember the activities we had last year in Rodanthe, and will travel many hours next year to several of the east coast gatherings. Why put a rule in place that prohibits such activities? There is no requirement that anyone has to go, just that the opportunity exists if you want to. I am grateful to Steph and Robin for setting up those gatherings as I/we got to see a part of this country we might never have known existed. BTW, don't forget about the Harbortown rally up in Meechigan this year and the Noah's Ark gathering over in Indiana last.
Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on so long. Just wanted to get my two cents worth in and with inflation it ended up costing a lot more.
