I'm trying to set up Internet Connection Sharing in Vista Home Premium, so I can link two laptops via wireless or crosswire ethernet connection when I cannot use my treasured Hughes connection. I would likely use my Wifire USB antenna to pick up a wifi internet signal at a campground or other location.
But I can't install ICS. Keep getting this message - "ICS error 1068 - The Dependency service or group failed to start." I get the same error with the Wifire card and my ethernet port.
Treading into deep waters here, I look at the services. ICS appears on the list, tho Stopped. I look at the Dependent Services for ICS, and I see each of them available in the list of Services. I also reviewed the event logs and found no mention of ICS.
I can't find any useful help on the Microsoft Technet site. Any thoughts in RV geekland?
Thanks much.

Good news: I enabled Telephony and the error disappeared.
Bad news: new less helpful error now an error occured while internet connection sharing was being enabled (null). I went back to basics with an ethernet cable from my laptop to my router. Still get that error.
Thanks for the help. But I'm cutting my losses and abandoning the effort for now. I don't need this enough to spend the time dinking with it. Rather go visit Yosemite and Q and MX. >
