We have a 2005 Fleetwood Pioneer, which is mainly used on a site in Florida, for a few months a year. It is insured, but I wonder if I should also take out a warranty, to cover contents etc. We have to decide in a week or two, it will cost about $1300 and will last for 3 years. Do we or dont we, any ideas, especiall;y from past experiences.
If you have the ability to self insure your own maintenance items it will ALMOST always be a lot cheaper. There's big money to be made selling maintenance policies (sometimes mis-named "extended warranties"). If you're lucky enough to purchase a trailer that has a lot of problems you may come out ahead. come hurricane season you will be glad you paid the price of the premium, other wise you pay the price of replacing out of pocket. you never know when or where that hurricane will strike.

He's talking about a products and operational warranty on applicances etc...not regular household insurance..which he says he has. I agree with the prior poster, those extended warrranties can be a real money maker for them. Think about how many times you've read about people having claim problems. The question is less will you ever need them, but more will they be there if you do. Those companies come and go like the weather....Brian
