Either something is wrong with your heater, you made a mistake figuring the cost or you are paying really, really high electric rates. For NH no more that 4 maybe 6 hours of the heater is needed and that should only be around 4 to 5 KWH of electricity per day or like 150 KWH/mo so $30 means you are paying $.20/KWH which is really outrageous.

All due respect, ever start at vehicle at -40 at five am? My oil pan heater plugged in all nite is very cheap insurance to make sure oil is flowing where it is supposed to be at start up.

I thought that was high when I posted, now I am going to have to look at the next elec bill. I do leave it plugged in all weekend also. I usually work one of the 2 days. its just a habbit I guess.Cretainly not hearting anything.

I guess I'm lucky my truck is in a garage at night. When I'm at work, my employer allows me to plug my truck in, but I only plug it in when it is really cold during the daytime, like 20 degrees or below, which isn't very common around here.

You living in Northern VA you should know very well that .20/KWH is not that outrageous, in southern MD we are at .18/KWH from BGE...

Move to Ohio..............$.08/kwh.
You'll be having blackouts alot by the teens.
See NERC's latest reliability assessment. Nobody seems to understand in the east of west coasts that you need generation for electricity to work. $.20/kwh will be cheap.

Don't move here it's only 0.06 up to 1000kw, then it's 0.07 to 1500kw and 0.08 to ? + $5 monthly fee.
