I purchased a 2006 Chevy 1500 extended cab short bed full size pickup that has a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. I pull a travel trailer that has a GVWR of 5600 pound and the Chevy does a great job. I only tow the trailer about 15 weekends at year. I've found that I don't like driving the long wheelbase at 133.9 inches as a daily driver.
I'm looking at a Toyota 4Runner with a wheel base of 109.8 and a towing capacity of 7000 pounds with the V8.
Will I notice much difference in power between the two tow vehicles????
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Power is not the real noticable issue. The chassis difference is what you will notice. The Toyota will be much less comfortable towing than the larger chevy.

Be careful, I have the 2007 4runner V8 2 wheel drive rated at 7300#
I am pulling a Jayco 23 footer with a gross of 6000, but weighs out at 5400 the way I have it loaded. The 4runner has a 5 speed and even on the Interstate I have to drop down to 3rd gear on any uphill slope.
That's 3400 plus rpm to maintain 60mph. I am at 5000 feet of elevation but I am not quite happy with the power. I use an equalizer 10k hitch and have no handling problems. I get less than 10 mpg towing. 18mpg unloaded.

That's not a long wheelbase, it's a short one. The long wheelbase unit are 143.5, 161.5 and 167 inches. The Tundra is a 145.7 which is longer than what you have. The Tacoma is 127.8
