Our Puma has a sofa/bed at the front. It sits on a raised "platform" that encloses the storage accessed outside through the front cubby doors. We have found that for really comfortable television watching we have to open the bed and put pillows against the wall of the trailer for back support. It has occurred to us that if we were able to remove the bed and mount a pair of recliners on the "platform" we would be much more comfortable. Now, obviously the recliners would have to: 1. be the type that move forward as you recline (I think they are called "wall savers". You know the kind I mean; the back doesn't move toward the wall as you recline); and 2. Have bases that could be removed (without getting into the reclining mechanism), as they will already be elevated from the floor by sitting on the "platform." I hope I have described what we have in mind lucidly enough.
Has anyone tried something like this? Money IS an issue.
Thanks,
Dave

We bought a Lazyboy double recliner and got rid of our sofa. It works fine and is comfortable. The storage may be a problem but if you have a hida bed it should work. We left the legs off of the recliner. Good luck.

I went looking at new RVs this weekend, and out of the 20-30 we looked at, only two were setup so you could position some type of recliner to face the TV. I'm not buying another RV that my wife and I can't recline back, relax, and be facing the TV correctly. Those sofas are useless for watching TV on, I usually end up going to bed to watch TV which I don't want to do.

I suggest go looking at furniture stores. You will very likely find a couple you like. The sofa should be removable. The cubby doors can be locked and covered up inside to look decorative. It sound to me like the only thing you will harm would be a little LOST storage space. If that is OK with you, I think the recliner idea ROCKS. from TIM

This is not at all what you mean but we found that if we put a footstool in front of the sofa we had the equilivent of a recliner. Or two footstools if necessary.

Great Idea. On our recent trailer, we removed the very uncomfortable couch and replaced it with two wall hugger recliners. The recliners we purchased had removable backs which made for easier moving in. They are also heavy enough not to require any anchoring to the rv floor.

We removed our bed from our 23' TT...it left a nice "platform" to put in 2 recliners (my wife and I spend several days looking for the perfect fit)...we now have that "comfortable" spot to look forward to...watching TV, reading, and sleeping..(they recline almost flat)...been using these for 16 months now as we are full timing and having a ball, and no back problems like we used to have.

Did the very thing you are suggesting. Found that the recliners were much better but don't forget the added bonus.....you sleep 2 less. The next thing to go in mine is the "booth" kitchen table. I want a real table and 2 chairs (Then 2 less sleep overs) Best of luck!
ps. check my profile.. I'm passed out in one
