Problems? Duh!, name a truck without problems. Consumer Re(t)orts is everyone's favorite publication when it supports that person's theory. But if they have something to say about "their" vehicle, then the data is flawed.

Exactly, and folks need to put the data gleaned from CR into perspective.

It take a 20% change from the norm to earn a better or worse, a 40% change to earn a much better or much worse. Lets look at an example.

Assume on average 10 out of 1000 new trucks suffers a transmission failure. If truck "A" suffers 12 trans failures per 1000 it scores worse than average, if truck "B" suffers 14 trans failures, it scores much worse than average. That's not a huge difference.

If a vehicle is truly problematic, for example the Cadillac Pick-up is 220% worse than average, they will mention this figure as an aside.

IMHO, it also matters in which catagory a vehicle scores poorly, I'd weight a black mark in engine or trans much more than one in body hardware or power equipment.

We look at CR but use their direction more on appliances and electronics than on vehicles. If you need a washing machine and you have a choice between 2 identically priced units, why not buy the one that's 40% more reliable and avoid the 40% less reliable unit. That's almost an 80% greater chance that it's going to puke.

If we find a vehicle we like and the price is right, it's more likely to end up in our driiveway if 1000s of other Americans are pleased with it's reliability. Conversely if it scores very poorly, it probably won't. The majority of vehicles fall into the middle and would be just fine.

I would not hesitate to buy a Titan, I think it's the undisputed value leader in it's class. For $4000 I can buy a few rotors and invest in a premium differential service regiment.

start soapbox All I can say is I love my Titan. Pulled my 213 from Washington State to West Virgina without a hiccup or letting me down at all. Those people who rip on it are entitled to their opinions and so am I, by God. Sure it does not have as many options as the big 3, but you know what? I liked that, make my purchase much simpler. And it sounds like a truck, kinda like a harley sounds like a bike. We can all compare stats, reviews and pucker sizes all day long, but in the end that is why we have choices. I made mine and you make yours. end soapbox

one of my area home builders is/was a die hard Datsun/Nissen truck owner for many years till the new ugly robo cop look came out. He's back driving a Ford F150 4x4 now. Nissen doesn't fair well with locals partly because the closest dealer is 75 miles away and the darn things are uglier than a Avalanche

LOL Die hard Datsun/Nissan truck owner huh? That is pretty good since the Titan is only 4 years old and Datsun has been dead for what? 20 years and Nissan had a bout a 5 year hiatus on building pickups altogether between the Frontier and the Hard Body. Since most builders I know don't use mid or compact trucks do tell us what he was driving as a die hard?? A die hard would get past the looks and enjoy the comfort and performance.

Keith, he is in OK.... Where they still have Datsun dealers. I believe that beauty is in the eye and all that but an Avalanche? Come on... Please..

JIM - The above poster will tell you that I have poked fun at Nissan in the past and made my remarks in jest, but as an owner of a full size Dodge with Cummins you can see my other TV in the sig. Don't knock it until you try it.

wow. your on a roll. Don't know what your problem is but guess you don't agree with my old builder reasons for dropping Nissen vehicles trucks. From your BS your usually throwing at other folks type comments tells me you was still krappin' yeller' when that old man first started driving/buying Datsuns. Robo cop was his difinition, not mine BUT the dang things are sure ugly.

Point being, "die hard owner" in most cases means it would not matter what the truck looked like if he liked the product. From the sounds of it he didn't even test drive it. It's a shame if he didn't. It sure isn't Aztek ugly. To be honest I wasn't crazy about the appearance at first but have grown to like it. It looks nicer with the hood deflector to break things up in front. The performance far outweighs the appearance anyways. FWIW I am not crazy about the new GM's looks but it would not stop me from buying one if I liked the way it worked. Wasn't hot about the new Ford Super Duties either, but now seeing more of them I think they look pretty good and would buy one in a heartbeat if I wanted a diesel or needed more truck.

WOW!!! Sob laugh sob laugh sob laugh ------- very amusing and sad.

I can hardly handle the overwhelming love and "pat on the back" support going on between these posting Titan owners. So many loving posts from such a small percentage of U.S. and Canada full size truck owners. Wouldn't it be very kind of you guys to go pat your dealers on the back, offer them a cold beer, and buy a second Titan to help change Nissan's CEO's mind? Out of the 1,953,152 full sized only pickups sold so far in 2007, 60,961 were Nissan Titan's. That's a whopping 3.12%. There's only 5 manufacturers of full sized pickups and 4 of them comprise approx 97% of the sales. Are you still wondering why Nissan's CEO made the statement he did? Makes me wonder why 97% of the truck purchasers didn't want to be a part of such a love fest? Do the 97% know something the 3% doesn't? A love fest won't do anything for the sales numbers but buying a second Titan will.

I noticed "roman 11" didn't include Ford F Series sales numbers in his post. Since it was omitted I'll post it.

Ford F Series sales thru Nov. 2007 are 635,520

GM Silverado - Sierra sales are 753,168

Dodge Ram Sales are 326,177

Toyota Tundra sales are 177,336

Nissan Titan sales are 60,961
