Does anyone rely on the comments that campers post on the TL Directory website? Anyone visiting a campground can leave a rating on the website and some of the comments are very interesting. Some are excellent and others seem to tell more than the campground owner would like the world to know. Do you ever read those and use them to pick your campground?
If not that, what do you use to choose your campground?

Forgot to mention that I may use your comments in an article I'm writing for a newsletter that goes to campground owners.

I have never used TL Directory Website campground reviews.
What I normally use a combination of a Campground Directory (Both Trailer Life & Woodall’s) along with RV Park Reviews Website, followed with “Open Road Forum”.

I use the Trailer Life Directory (hard copy), find the nearest town to where I want to go, then normally choose the largest ad for a campground in that town. I figure if they can spend money on advertising they must have spent money on the CG so it will be better than the others.

Never knew it existed. Most folks on this forum tend to use one or both of these sites or come here and ask questions.

Campground Owners -- put pictures of your campsites on your websites and please make them a good size and include lots of them - not just 1 or 2. I can tell in 5 seconds whether we will stay somewhere if I can see the campsites. Nice size campsites and well kept grounds shows pride of ownership and thus a place we would probably visit.

I read Woodall's, TL Guide and Frommer's Guide to the Best Campgrounds and I compare them with each other. I'm reluctant to read other camper's reviews because seldom do they have similar interests to my wife or myself. Some folks go crazy over the swimming pool - I don't care about the pool. Some go crazy over the fact you're allowed to drink around your campfire - we don't drink. If they really like something about a place, they tend to give positive feedback. They don't have the same interests we do therefore I don't put much faith in their evaluations. By reading all three of the above "Guides" and comparing them with campgrounds I'm familiar with, we've learned to read between the lines and know pretty much what to expect. I agree with a former writer that complimented the ownership for buying large ads in the various publications - that is usually a good sign. Unfortunately, once one gets around Las Vegas or other metro areas, several will have the finances and/or marketing skills to know that a large ad sells. Experience with the "Guides" has been our major source of information.

I agree about the photos. I think one of the things TL Directory is trying to do is have virtual tours for the campgrounds. You can get a 360-degree look see at the park.

I personally have never knew that their website could be used to leave a rating system, but I will go and check it out now.
I always use TL Directory and always go wherever the highest marks are.
Woodalls is to hard to use I find.

There's a place on the TL Directory website that gives you an opportunity to give your own TL-type rating and then make a comment if you wish. I was just wondering if anyone had found it helpful. Give it a check!
