In my opinion, the more areas a person can find information on a campground, the easier it is to base your decision. I agree that pictures in the ads would be a benefit. I will look at their website (which is normally "linked" in RV Park Reviews) and a lot of times they have pictures of sites. Like I said, the more information the better.
Looking for something to add to your article - consider this...
Campground Owners -- put pictures of your campsites on your websites and please make them a good size and include lots of them - not just 1 or 2. I can tell in 5 seconds whether we will stay somewhere if I can see the campsites. Nice size campsites and well kept grounds shows pride of ownership and thus a place we would probably visit.

Also put a link to your RATES, on your site, I have seen a few that don't, I figure why waste yours & my time, if the rate isn't what I'm looking for.

I look in Trailer Life and RV Park Reviews. If traveling not camping, we will stay at one that has a map to the campground from the road we are on in Trailer Life ads. Not really important sometimes about all the extras - just need easy and cheap. We like electric but don't need water or sewer.
I never go to the Trailer Life website.
But, I have posted on RV Park Reviews.

Then there are some of us, in 12-13 yrs of owning an RV, I NEVER once bought or used a guide such as the TL one. I preffered the guides that showed federal and or state parks or equal. I think I stayed in KOA or equal all of 7 nights if that, and that was one of the final long trips I made in 01. A few trips to portland for a trade show. Otherwise, it was all in state/federal/national parks and various rest/truck stops along the way! I think I have a still fully wrapped TL from 2-3 yrs ago on the shelf.
With this in mind, it would be nice of this book, would show state parks etc. The one book I did like, was the NW campgrounds book. ALL 1400+ public owned and private campgrounds, that folks that had been there, and if no one had been there, it was not rated nor listed as a place to camp in Wa and OR. It included pay for and freebee federal places too!

You certainly don't want to drag around a book you don't use -- but I just looked in the TL Directory and there are public and national and state parks listed. Of course, if you only stay at those, then a smaller state park/national park book would be easier for you to use. When I need information about a state park, I usually go to their state website and most states have a wonderful listing of all their parks.
Dee, that "fully wrapped" TL directory Marty has on the shelf is the one from when we had lunch a couple years ago. - I guess he never opened it to see just what is in the book!
But then you have to remember he was a "newly wed" then.

When I go to RV Park Reviews or the TL site to check on a park I am more intertested in seeing any negative comments first. I have changed my mind about a park based on these reviews, especially if there is more than one negative comment about the same thing that concerns me. Rude staff, realy tight spaces, and neglected site areas will always keep me looking. I've also changed to a particular park if it has nothing but glowing reviews.
Having pictures is always a plus.

The sad thing is that most of us do use RV park reviews to see what people are saying about the campgrounds. The problem is a lot of campground owners managers do not, or at least that is what they tell me when I ask. Of course I tell them they should. One thing I would really like to see is pictures of the sites. I have see it done at some of the state parks in Georgia. When you pull up the site map, you can click on the site # and a pic comes up. I think the campgrounds that would be willing to do that would get a lot more business because no one likes to show up and the site they have reserved months ago is awful and no better sites available. Just my thought for campground owners. Here is the COE campgrounds map as an example. map with site pics Just click the site number. Makes site selection a breeze.
