Tundra/Sequoia's spread is fantastic...no one here said differently. But I have never heard a Titan/Armada owner wish they had "more gears" either. This only came about because someone mentioned rear end ratios like it was plug-and-play, everyone's on the same playing field.....when that's not the case at all.

Look again.
No one was saying the 6 speed Toyota had less gear spread than the 5 speed Nissan, look again.
All I was saying is that people rattle off rear end ratios like they are the gospel of total gearing and in this comparison they do not tell the whole story, the comparison is relatively meaningless without taking into account the ENTIRE picture.
Now if you took the Nissan 5 speed and teamed it with the Toyota 4.30 rear end you would have a real stump pulling combo.
Just like if you took the tall geared Toyoda 6 speed and put it with the 3.36 Nissan rear end, you would have a Bonneville special.
But together with their own components the are very similar overall.
BTW, food for thought - lower ratios/higher numbers - 4.10, 4.30, 5.29 etc have a smaller pinion and hence less total gear engagement surface area vs a taller ratio with more tooth engagement surface and tend to be weaker (with same size ring gear) because of the higher tooth pressure generated.
Rubi - The minute you disagree with PSD, there is no winner. Only increased sales of Tagamet and migraine medication. I am working on some code right now to auto respond to him so I don't have to do it on my own. I was able to compile a list of the most common acceptable responses to his posts and I came up with....
For the 637th time, we know what the HP numbers are of the Toyota 5.7, so does everybody else that can read and owns a car.
Ooooohhhh Nice picture... Hey! haven't we seen that one before in a bunch of your other posts?
Since when does a 0-60 time matter when towing a trailer that should really only be going 60 miles an hour in the first place?
Paper drag races and pulling competition are about as accurate as a drunk guy trying to pee in the dark
I heard about your party to celebrate what would be the 120th birthday of Yamamoto on your blog "Toyota or Death". I was just wondering if both your parents had to be Japanese to attend.
Depending on the original post, the program will look for key words, quote the post and respnd within seconds. Saving me the trouble of having to read the nonsense, while providing a "devils advocate" of sorts for him to consider. It is really all in PSD's best interest.
PS - you still have that old Ford? I finished my work on mine and it is gone now, the kid is kind of said, guess I better get another one and get to work.

Yep, and will probably have it for a long time. Bought several upgrades for it and will start installing them after Christmas. New cam, carb, headers, 3" exhaust, stereo and a nice reverse cam with a camera for the truck and one for the trailer.
I would like to have PSD's Excursion for my wife.

That's a nice one for sure and I did miss that you had sold yours.
We would be happy with a V-10 seeing how the only thing we would tow with it is our ATV and my wife only drives about 6000 miles a year. We borrowed our daughters for an ATV trip we took with another couple and what a great way to travel.
We have lots of grandkids so the room would be nice. We'd like the Eddie Bauer because we like the 2-tone leather interior.

My Avy has the same 6.0L engine and 4L70E transmission as a Silverado 2500.
But mounted on a 1/2 ton chassis and suspension, its payload is only 1355 lbs. (Sure rides nice, though.)
My Silverado 2500 has a 4L80E. The 4L70E was built to handle the extra power of the 6.0L over the 5.3L and also to accomodate the heavier towing with the new ratings. But since GM refuses to give leaf springs on a 1/2 ton SUV the payload isn't available for excessive tongue weight.
I used a 2003 Trailblazer EXT 5.3L to tow a TT and it was scary. It was within all of its numbers barely. I put it on a scale loaded with all gear and some water in the tanks. A stiff breeze or semi would have me white knuckled at 55 mph.
I wish the manufacturers wouldn't play the numbers game trying to get the grocery haulers mixed up with the real towing machines. They are just trying to move more units. All the power they can put in a 1/2 ton does not stop the load or give enough springs to be stable with a real load. I used to 1/2 tons before going 3/4 ton. 1 was unstable and the other had inadequate brakes and oversized tires and undergeared.
