I have'nt had the chance to find out what the worst thing about full timing is yet as we are stuck waiting for our house to sell. Some say they miss their stuff and their homes. I'm tired of taking care of "stuff" and all the up keep of our house. I'm sick of painting, weeding, recarpeting, cleaning up after the latest windstorm and the never ending yard work and constant repairs that never seem to end.

Some folks say they miss their kids and grandkids but some of us have them spread out across the country. When we finally get out of here, we'll be able to spend time with our youngest son and his familey in Colorado and and another son in Va.

Someone else said they did'nt care for some of the campgrounds. At least if you don't care for the campground you're parked in or the folks in the campground, you can move on.
We are trying to sell a house. Yes it has tripled in value,(on paper) but the housing market if awful...
We also have the worlds worst neighbor. He could care less about how his property looks. It is one of the reasons we are having trouble selling our home. At least 5 potential buyers have commented on the property next door and what an eye sore it is. It looked fine 15 years ago when we moved here.
Give me a campground where I can pack up and move, anytime.

I am looking forward to going full time so I can see for myself what the worst thing about being free of these aggravations can feel like.

We have been doing this since May and the thing that annoys me the most is relying on the campgrounds to provide True info on their cable and internet connections. We have decided that the only way to be rid of this is to be independant of the campgrounds for our television and internet needs and are presently tracking down whats best for us.

I manage my business and work from our RV and the internet is crucial to me so I don't rely on the open WiFi that's sometimes up and sometimes down. The datastorm provides both internet and tv and is real reliable (you just have to stay away from the trees). For an automated system check out Bill Adams at Internet Anywhere. For a portable system, the one you setup and take down each time you move, check out Maxwell Satellite

I've used both and they both provide good service. We move around a lot and the setup/tear down was just too time consuming for me with the portable so we went to the automated system. With the Internet Anywhere setup by the time I've got the power/water hooked up we're usually on the internet and Bill Adams provides support you won't believe.

The top thing I dislike about full-timing is, I miss my Dad.

The next thing I dislike most about fill-timing is grocery shopping with the wife. We use both motorcycles to carry groceries so I have to come along. If there is a bench outside that I can sit and watch women, I mean cars and trucks go by, then that's a plus. The wife can go in grocery shopping and I can wait outside. Otherwise I have to go with her and push the cart.

I got a little fed up with laundromats, but not enough to make me want to quit.

That's why I have a w/d on board. Put a load in, go to bed, take it out in the morning.

No downsides, just challenges and that is part of what makes this life so interesting.

My husband insists on going with me and pushing the cart. I'd rather go by myself---much faster and fewer headaches---but I don't want to hurt his feelings by leaving him at home. I guess we all have to make some concessions, don't we?

You sound like my DW - but I know she's just kidding, what fun would it be without the kid along

Nolan - get her a sissy bar for that hog and some spider bungies. I can get the weeks groceries on my sportster along with the DW Course she says I have a degree in bungies, but hey, whatever works

I put it on my want-list as well and kept the link as I hope to be able to get one SOME day. I want to work from home and you definitely can't use dial-up for that. As I sit here, sipping a hot cuppa and watching the snow fall, happy that the pump wasn't burnt out and it only needed a new fuse, aware that I have to get a new sewerhose because the one we have now has water frozen in it and is blocked up, I can't really think of these things as downsides. They're annoyances, to be sure, but not insurmountable. I miss our friends deeply but since we have to be on the road we just suck it up and drive on. I miss my garden, but next year I mean to have a small container garden for things that cost the earth in the stores but can be grown easily (like green peppers!). I don't miss having the headaches that attend a house, and which are never as easily solved as the ones in an rv. I wish we were debt-free and could follow the sun as so many more well-prepared people are doing, but we're working on it and will someday join them in their pursuit. Downsides are mostly in your mind, and if you want to fulltime they will be dealt with or you won't fulltime.
