If you put your hand over the grill, the sound dissapears. Although, I suspect that is a good way to burn up a gen =P.
I did some experimenting directing the sound with 'sheilding', plywood in my case. It was pretty effective.
If you can't stand the 59.94Hz rap of over-modulated video, you should try the 15,750Khz whine of a flyback transformer in the TV. At 53 (I think) I can still clearly hear it across the room. In the 5th grade the school called "mom" because her kid's hearing was well beyond the capabilities of their equipment. It's top-end was somewhere around 60Khz. Mosquito repellers drive me nuts too. Although the generator doesn't bother me at all.

I don't think I have ever heard a Mosquito repeller. That is some pretty high pitch hearing.
I enjoy each and every day, life is to short for me to get my shorts in a bunch over such a trivial sound....now if you were to scratch a blackboard with your finger nails, I could agree LOL seriously at almost 63yo there are a lot of sounds I just dont hear, or maybe tunethem out? Hope you can block it so you can enjoy your RVing more. Have a good one
