MO State Parks offer a discount. Just require you to display a handicap placard in your windshield.

Does anyone know if the America The Beautiful Pass will cover my hearing disability? I am 100% deaf in one ear and have a moderate to severe loss in my other. Without my hearing aid I can't do conversations well at all. I read that deaf or hard of hearing people qualify. Anyone know for sure? I am only 44. Thanks

As listed under number 3 you may qualify for the pass.
Would have responded sooner but away for a few days.

Thanks to the op for posting this question and also to those who responded. I am on federal disability and never thought to check to see if there might be a discount. Anything would certainly help..thanks again.

I am almost positive that the America The Beautiful Access Pass would, when I got mine the Ranger stated it was not the amount or type of disability only the fact of the existance and documentation. Here is a link for some specifics on obtaining the pass.

Thanks for the info! I will get documentation from my Doc and take it to the ranger station. I will let you know if it does take my form of disability.

There are two different cards that you can apply for.
The California State Parks Disability Pass. This will give you a 50% discount for day use parking, camping and boat/day use parking fees. Go to the following website - scroll down to the title "Disabled Discount Pass" and click on "download application in PDF". Calif. State Park Disabled pass If you carry a permanent placard you will not need a doctor's certification. Just photocopy your placard, fill out sections I, II and IV (I believe) and mail with your $3.50 and copy of your placard to the address given. In about a week you'll have your pass in hand.
Now, you also qualify for the America the Beautiful Access Pass. Also, if you carry a permanent placard all you'll need is the DMV paper that your supposed to keep with your license and go to a qualifying park that gives them out. This gets you into National Parks for free - i.e. - Grand Canyon, Yosemite etc - where you pay an entrance fee to get in. You can go here Access Pass for more information on it and to click the link to tell you which places give them out.

My wife and I are in the same boat, and we also live in Calif, and yes Calif does have several types that you qualify for, one is the Golden access pass, but I think there's one that's even better, I cant recall what ours is, but ill look.
Between the federal and the state of Calif (and other states Im sure) there are lots of discounts, and you need them when you both on SSDI, you think you stashed away necessary funds, but every thing has gone up so fast, except our benefits, it makes it tough.
So look around, and all you need is your award paper from Social Security.
Good Luck Mike.

How to Obtain a Golden Access Passport As stated in a later post, it's now the America the Beautiful Access Pass or just plain Access Pass. Does anyone know what state parks accept this card? NYS does not, but have their own NYS "Access Pass" like many other states. From what I can figure out, not many states in the eastern shoreboard accept a federal Access Pass.

The America the Beautiful is for National Parks - Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone....any NATIONAL park that charges an entrance fee - with this access pass you don't have to pay to get into the national park.
Most states have their own State Park system - they won't accept the National Pass but should have a pass available to allow discounts on day use, parking and camping in the state park system for your state.
