We are arriving for a short (4 day) stay in New Orleans on January 9th. Staying at the French Quarter RV resort and would like some suggestions on "must see, must eat" places. Hopefully we can just walk from the resort but we do have a toad.

JTHarley,
Pat O'briens is our favorite place for a few cold ones and they have a great piano bar, not your average piano bar, it is a must see. Have fun.

http://www.antoines.com/. Haven't been there in many years but it was absolutely outstanding and likely still enjoys a great reputation. Old time waiters could take menu orders from 4 to 6 (probably more) and never write a thing down and never make a mistake on who ordered what. Oysters Rockefeller are not to be missed.
http://www.commanderspalace.com/ is another great place.
Bon appetite!

And a truly 'must see' unique location and experience is the national WW-II (Previously D-Day) museum. A quick walk-thru will take a couple of hours and you will wish you had planned to spend the day!

thanks,
Wow, I'm getting hungry now.. love N.O.
I think it's a pretty good distance to the French Quarter from where you are staying, and parking is dicy, so I suggest a cab. I think another post about the resort mentioned a limo, so you might ask about that.
We visited the Aquarium and it was a lot of fun. Along with the excellent suggestions so far, Star Lobster and Steak House on Decatur is good for beef.
No matter where you eat, just BE SURE to patronize Cafe Du Monde.

Have a Whole Muffaletta at Central....you only live once! I like the Chowhound website for restaurant recommendations. You get a better idea as to where the locals choose to eat. I particularly like K-Paul's (even though it's not really a local's place). Unless you've got really strong big city instincts, I'd be careful about walking around at night, except in the heart of the French Quarter.
