A search broght me THESE threads on the same subject.

I use THIS ONE and like it. It was $49.00 @ Pep Boys. It works on my invertor.

I have a MasterFlow Q89. It's not cheap, $159, but it far outperforms small, cheap 12V compressors. It will air up tires FAST!

http://www.amazon.com/Master-Flow-Q89-Portable-Compressor/dp/B000L9D8LI

Product Description
Master Flow Q89 The Q89 chrome dual piston compressor puts out 150 psi and 72 Liter per Minute. The handy 25 ft. coil hose with gauge locking air valve makes airing up any project easy. Rubber grip handle is great for carrying, and the base tray with rubber anti-vibration feet help protect the compressor from the elements when set on the ground. Alligator power clips included, but can be modified for permanent wiring and mouting. Storage bad with accessories included. I got an air compressor which also has a battery with enough juice to jump start an engine. I like it because it gives me extra flexibility and security.

Like drfife, I use a MasterFlow compressor also. It is not quite as expensive or big as the one he posted but gets the job done well.

What about a liguid CO2 tank? You can make one pretty cheap. They can fill up a lot of tires on one charge and are cheap to recharge. When I get my new truck I am going to mount one in the bed. They are great because they require no power source, are portable and can run air tools for a limited amount of time. Do a seach and you can find all the info you want about makeing one yourself.

I bought a small AC one from Lowes, however I know that Home Depot also sells one now for around the same price. The one that I have cost me I think 49$ and came with a brad gun and brads and staples. I can easily run mine off of an inverter on my trailer. In fact I have never plugged it in to the house or a generator.

Barney and drfife have it right IMO. Q Industries makes the best bang for the buck in 12v compressors. The 1050 model in very good, Costco has them for $49 or you can get it at PePBoys for $49-$79. At Pepboys and other places it's called the Tsunami or MV50. It draws 30a max. The Q89 is stronger, but it draws about 47a. I have had a Tsunami for two years and it works great for me.

I'm with 4tumbleweeds. In addition, you have a temporary power source for your TT and with so many black boxes on our TV, I hesitate to offer my car/truck for a battery jump source. Some also come with a light and 120vac invertor. Got mine at Costco for $40-50.

I bought this air compressor although it isn't the fastest, it does get the job done, and is small enough to run off an inverter.

Lowe's has a Portable Compressed CO2 Regulator uses liquid CO2, paint ball tanks, refill at many sporting goods stores for $3-5.

Last of all, a scuba tank, can be adapted to fill tires. The tanks cost about $5 to fill at dive shops, and hold up to 3000 PSI. The down side is: Many dive shops will not fill them if you are not a certified diver (card carrying), the tank must be inspected annually, about $25-30. And hydro checked every 5 years. Not really a good value just to fill tires, but if you dive, the adapter is a good value.
