I use the back bunk for misc. storage if grandkids are joining me. And too I've thought about putting the back bunk mattress on the front bunk, but that's too much like work for me!

My second bunk is twin-size and just the perfect size to hold a micro-wave and small refrigerator.

Well if Murphy Girl our 13 year old Lab is with us we help her up and that becomes HER bed She loves to lay up there and look out through the screens! If she isnt with us we put our bags of clothes up there and that gives us quite a bit more room. We actually added the memory foam mattress to ours in our bedroom at home. My DH laughs at me because I say "mmmmm smells like campfire to me honey!"

Could it be left as is and perhaps be used as a way to get a few feet away from a snoring spouse or perhaps when one of you is tossing and turning?

Wait! Don't do anything. They will be back!. How Do I know? It happened to us. The other bunk was only empty for a very short time, And, then. Not only was the bunk full, but the J sofa as well.. and then. The table bed filled up. Soon, We wondered if there would be room for us. It';s mins so there is, But then! Came the TT. Sitll full, and now. there is a GB. Where to put her? Bassennett on the floor. So now the bed , the table bed, and the J sofa are full. AND NOW. There is to be ANOTHER GB, Where to put it? I'm thinkin. It's time for someone to get their own camper
You could get to the point. that you look forward to that bunk being empty. NOTTT!

Having no kids, that's always where we stored everything: clothes, food bins, etc. Worked great. We still do that with our HTT, we just have a lot less to store on the other bed. Personally, I don't know how ya'll with kids fit all your stuff into a PUP - where on earth do you put it??

Thanks everyone for your comments, I know they will be back, I guess shorter trips and closer to home might help. Happy Holidays.

We do the same. Everything goes on the extra bunk and the counters and seating are all clear. We have our closet (sterlite), pantry (more sterlite), library , DH golf clubs (they don't go if we don't have the bunk to store them) . I love being able to come in and sit down without having to move something first. But when we do take siblings and their children (and dogs) it does get crowded. So much for sitting down without moving stuff.

Use it as others for storage when it is just the DH & I camping-place our clothes, coats, extras over on it. Also keep the front part clear so during cooking and washing-dishes times I place a piece of counter top Formica on it...then I have an extra counter top near the sink/stove area. I don't have to go over to the table just to prep the food and that extra counter area sure is nice to place the dish-drying rack on top of....so I don't have to worry about putting away all the dishes/pans we use throughout our camp-out. I just leave it all there and grab what I need when I am ready to cook the next meal.

Also, part of the area is nice to set up our 'cocktail' bar. Just leave the liquor/mixers there...and they are out of our way not taking up space on the regular counters.

When we do have kids/friend camp with us...then we are still able to use the Formica counter top piece on top of the mattress. We just store/slide it under the mattress till we need it again.

See photo below of how we do it with the mattress still on the bunk-bed:

Another shot further way:
