I have found it once but now can't, so coming in for help.. Does any one know how to configure the Delorme GPS to work with Microsoft Streets and Maps? I found a wed site on how to do it at one time but can't find it now so guess it can still be done.

Thanks in advance

Mine works with both...but I might have followed the below instructions. Some things I just don't remember.

Before installing this update, plug the Earthmate GPS into an available USB Port to allow Windows to recognize the GPS as an HID device.

Click Download Now at the bottom of this list.
Save the file to the desktop.
Locate DeLorme Serial Emulator1.1.exe and double-click it.
Click Next.
Select the "I accept the terms of this license agreement" option.
Click Next.
Restart the computer when prompted.
Note: The installation will resume once the computer has restarted.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Right-click on the DeLorme Serial Emulator system tray icon and select Ports... from the pop-up menu.
Select NMEA next to the COM Port you wish to use and close the utility.
Open the mapping application.
In the GPS Settings, select NMEA as the device and the COM port you selected in step 11 as the COM port the device is connected to.
Start the GPS. Download Now (14 MB)

About the DeLorme Serial Emulator

The DeLorme Serial Emulator is a system tray utility that provides access to the settings and status of an Earthmate reciever. You can also use the Configure Virtual COM Ports utility to assign up to three different COM Ports for the Earthmate GPS reciever. The Earthmate GPS reciever can be configured to work with up to three different applications at the same time.

The utility contains the following items:

About - Shows the version of the utility.
Monitor... - Opens the Monitor GPS Status window.
Ports... - Allows you to configure the Virtual COM Ports.

Auto-Start - Automatically starts the GPS when it is plugged in.
Start - Starts the GPS.
Stop - Stops the GPS.
Exit - Exits the utility.

What menu options do you find in MS Streets and Trips?

Don't understand what your asking here. But when I go to tools and Options under units radio button in miles, decimal degress, N/S/E/W, check mark in Show GPS when pane is closed.
Under Directions font size 8 check in time--distance--instruction--for and toward Check in Show Auto Save message on save....Is this what your asking and if so do I need to change anything....

USAF Bill going to print yours off and see if I can follow it to try but we are trying this for a friend, he has both on his computer but likes MS best.

Thank you both

I think USAFBILL is close. If I remember right, the Delorme is proprietary. The instructions posted are for Delorme emulator- possibly a 3rd party add on that converts Delorme to NMEA.

In DeLorme Street Atlas I have options to pick the receiver type and port. It sounds like MS S&T doesn't.

Moringlory,
The Delorme Emulator is on the CD/DVD for Street Atlas or can be downloaded from the following Delorme web site.

Delorme Emulator website

You need to install the Delorme Emulator and once it is installed you configure the emulator to assign a "virtual" com port to NMEA mode.

You then bring up MS Streets and Trips and configure the program to use the "virtual" com port that you configured in the Delorme emulator program.

BTW - You can assign multiple "virtual" com ports and I have configured the emulator with multiple com ports and have run Delorme Street Atlas, MS Streets and Trips and Trailer life Campground Directory programs all at the same time and had all three programs tracking our position using the Delorme USB Earthmate GPS.
